Risk Remediation and Control Manager, Vice President

Job Summary:

The Risk Control Tower Group is a new critical risk function within Operations and Technology for the Americas (OTA) striving to provide best in class risk and controls governance support and is pivotal in driving risk culture and discipline within OTA and the business groups it enables.

We are looking for a person who is collaborative and passionate about providing technology and information security operational risk management. In this role you will be the point person to work with OTA leaders and assigned project teams on remediation of complex, cross-functional issues across the OTA organization ensuring that remediation approaches, monitoring and reporting incorporate the appropriate risk management discipline. Being a new function, you will participate in the design and implementation of new governance, oversight, processes, metrics, and reporting processes. You will also provide updates, both written and verbal, to senior leadership on the status of remediation initiatives, including escalation of remediation risks and issues as needed.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Establish governance, oversight, standardized processes, metrics and reporting to support the remediation of complex, cross-functional issues across OTA.

  • Work with assigned teams to establish initiative-specific and data driven risk analysis and reporting practices (risk-based decisioning & prioritization, Failure Modes & Effects Analysis, utilization of compensating controls, measuring and monitoring risk burn-down, etc.)

  • Provide assistance to assigned teams to accelerate remediation activities as appropriate

  • Develop and maintain effective and positive business relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.

  • Develop, manage, and perform issue monitoring and reporting activities to achieve greater transparency, improved accountability and on-time closures.

  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reporting using technology including tool evaluation, selection, configuration and ongoing support and maintenance.

  • Coordinate and facilitate meetings both with internal (Technology & Operations business areas, First, Second and Third Lines of defenses); and external partners (Regulators).

  • Support the preparation of risk and controls governance materials as needed.

  • Work with assigned teams on strategies to optimize and streamline the internal process of how OTA responds to and manages regulatory engagement and response, including strategies to establish the necessary regulatory framework that will evolve with the OTA transformation work, as well as drive efficiencies and solve for/minimize regulatory issues going forward.

Qualifications

  • 8 years of experience in operational risk with a strong understanding of information technology, and information security (Includes operations, operational risk management, compliance, audit and third-party risk management within technology and or information security), or a combination thereof

  • Strong understanding of governance and oversight best practices, ideally with experience implementing and/or managing governance processes

  • Deep understanding of financial institution processes, products and risk

  • Knowledge of critical domestic and international banking regulations

  • Experience with enforcement agencies oversight activities (regulatory examinations, MRA’s, consent orders, etc.) within global systemically important financial institutions information technology and information security environments

  • Understanding of information security risk assessment/testing methodologies evaluating the adequacy and efficiency of internal controls; and identifying issues resulting from internal and or external compliance examinations

  • Ability to demonstrate an analytical approach to problem solving, conceptualize the automation business processes, and implement practical solutions, is highly desired

  • Advance level of proficiency using Microsoft Excel to organize and analyze data, produce management reporting and dashboards, and prototype strategic solutions is critical

  • Experience with risk metrics definition and reporting/scorecard development utilizing key risk metrics tools (IBM Open Pages, Tableau, SQL, Access etc.)

  • Ability to work effectively in team environment, and influence across all interpersonal levels, where flexibility, collaboration, adaptability, challenge and influence are important

  • Experience developing and communicating key messages to senior managers and regulators

  • Strong planning and organizing skills and the ability to multitask across a varied workload

  • Ambitious and hardworking

  • Bachelor’s Arts or Science

  • Prior supervisory and or management role with a focus on talent development

  • Prior experience working at a Regulatory Agency is a plus

  • Risk, Information Security and of Technology Certifications desired, but not required. (CISA, CRISC, CISM, CGEIT, CSX, CISM, CISSP, ITIL, COBIT, etc.)
