Job Description:

MUFG Asset Based Finance (ABL) is searching for a Business Development Officer (BDO) to help grow its franchise within their designated region. The BDO will have a broad focus across various industries and segments (Large Corporate, Mid-Corporate, and Sponsor owned) which includes both public and private issuers. The BDO will benefit from direct access and connectivity to MUFG’s Global Corporate and Investment Banking platform.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Originating new transactions will be the primary focus of the BDO by generating their own leads on new deals that deploy the bank’s capital into opportunities with attractive risk/return profiles and successfully leverage the banks IB&M product suite.

  • Effective networking across industry events and conferences as well as marketing the bank’s ABL platform.

  • Focus: Large Corporate, Mid Corporate, and Sponsor finance (public and private companies)

  • Partner with Corporate and Sponsor coverage bankers to deliver the bank’s ABL platform to new and existing clients

  • Actively structure and negotiate deal terms as well as pricing, fees and security requirements.

  • Work effectively and professionally with internal teams to ensure that current market disciplines/practices are consistently and routinely applied when executing on new deals.

  • As a senior member of the team, the BDO will be expected to create and sustain a positive work environment across the platform, leading by example and helping develop junior bankers.

  • Ensure acceptable risk is being taken within policy & guidelines.

Background:

  • Minimum 10 years of Asset Based Lending and/or extensive track record of new deal origination with fluency in ABL, Leveraged Finance, Capital Markets and Credit Risk Management

  • Proven track record of business development successes and ability to work independently.

  • Minimum requirement of a Bachelor’s degree, with high regard for Master’s degree. Areas of study in finance, accounting and/or mathematics is a plus.

  • FINRA Licenses: Existing Series 63 and 79 licenses holders highly preferred; otherwise, completion within 6 months of start date will be required.

  • Relevant experience should include Large Corporate, Mid Corporate, bi- lateral and sponsor ABL transactions, ABL in conjunction with TLB, Notes, Bonds and or other credit products.

  • Experience in ABL niche products including but not limited to recurring revenue, lender finance, channel finance, DIP/Exit, is a plus.

  • Knowledge of federal banking regulations and of commercial lending policies, procedures, practices and techniques.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to work effectively in a dynamic work environment and across functions.

  • Must be eligible for employment under regulatory standards applicable to the position.
