Overall Purpose of Job:
The Analyst will be a corporate finance professional supporting the Restaurant Finance Group. The Restaurant Finance group provides financing solutions and advisory services to operating companies, franchisors, and franchisees of regional, national, and multinational restaurant companies, with an emphasis on large brands. MUFG established the Restaurant Finance platform within Global Corporate and Investment Banking in 2018 and accelerated its expansion with the addition of 8 industry professionals in 2021. The Restaurant Finance portfolio has grown significantly in the Americas over the past 12 months, with the goal of expanding as an industry leader.
The Analyst role involves the following:
Support credit management activities for the Restaurant Finance portfolio through the application of solid credit and analytical skills
Provide continuous oversight of portfolio names, monitoring for potential upgrading, downgrading and credit deterioration with the goal of maximizing net income and reducing credit costs
Collaborate with deal team to present analyses to senior members of the organization
This role can be based in the metropolitan areas of Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles or Atlanta
Key Responsibilities :
Support the modeling, analysis and reporting on the credit risks of existing and potential future portfolio of corporate loans to restaurant operators and franchisors
Compilation and submission of credit applications in accordance with internal policies and regulatory guidance
Maintain credit and industry databases
Support the preparation of detailed credit reporting to senior management on a quarterly, semi-annual, and annual basis
Develop the knowledge base to become a subject matter expert on financing for the Restaurant industry
Support compliance with external regulatory/internal policy and procedural requirements
Provide support for other special projects relating to the management and governance of the Restaurant Finance loan portfolio
A 4 year Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Art degree
3 months to 3+ years of related work experience including appropriate internships
Familiarity with general corporate credit analysis and accounting concepts.
Completion of formal credit-training program at a commercial or corporate bank is preferred
Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
Strong financial spreading/modeling skills.
Strong computer skills in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Able to work independently and under pressure.
