Job Summary :

The Associate QA role within the Internal Audit function is responsible for covering all aspects of internal audit activity and aims to provide audit leadership and the Board reasonable assurance that work performed by the department conforms with audit methodology and meets quality standards (e.g., industry standards and regulatory requirements). The position’s primary area of coverage is financial crimes, including Anti-Money Laundering, Sanctions, and Anti-Bribery and Corruption. The Associate QA role is expected to support audit quality assurance activities and deliverables, regionally and globally, while also contributing to the overall advancement of departmental objectives.

Major Responsibilities :

  • Act as a leader and role model and continuously improve self and department.

  • Engage as a team player across peer group and in influencing audit management.

  • Continuously improve the audit function, identifying opportunities for improvement with thoughtful solutions, partnering with Professional Practices.

  • Execute the quality assurance plan, performing reviews of planning processes, risk assessments, audit execution, regulatory and audit issue validations and other/thematic topical reviews.

  • Execute QA testing programs designed to effectively assess the department’s conformance with audit methodology, industry standards and regulatory requirements, including challenging audit scope, execution, and conclusions.

  • Challenge audit teams on work performed, including appropriateness of scope, risks and controls identified, risk ratings, controls testing (design and operating effectiveness, inclusive of depth of testing), sampling, sustainability, and conclusions.

  • Develop QA reports with the ability to contextualize findings to support rating, aligning to issues identified and communicating improvement opportunities to the audit teams and audit management.

  • Perform ongoing monitoring of open QA issues, escalate potential delays, and appropriately validate the closure of action plans in line with procedures.

  • Collaborate with audit teams as a trusted advisor to support high quality work products.

  • Proactively escalate potential issues impacting delivery and manage deliverables, anticipating risks or challenges and evaluating alternatives/solutions.

  • Proactively raise issues/observations to QA VP/Director, drafting issues to be discussed with audit management and supporting communication of observations to obtain action plans that are measurable and sustainable.

Qualifications

Education, Licensure, Year of Experience (and type of work experience) :

  • A Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related business discipline at an accredited college or university.

  • Professional auditing certifications preferred, such as the CAMS, CPA, or CIA are highly desirable.

Skills and Experience :

  • Minimum of 5 to 6 years and/or equivalent of experience of internal audit and/or equivalent of experience with the financial services industry, related markets, and related regulatory agencies.

  • Experience preferred in financial crimes compliance audit or equivalent (e.g., BSA/AML, AB&C, Sanctions).

  • Exhibits effective communication (both verbal and written), negotiation and presentation skills; strong interpersonal skills; and ability to engage with all levels of internal audit and business line management.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Employs critical thinking skills to identify pragmatic recommendations within an evolving and increasingly complex regulatory and risk management environment.

  • Proficiency in technology as required for assigned areas (MS Office, audit workflow tools, audit data analytics, etc.).

  • Ability to travel may be required.
