Program Summary:

MUFG Americas is embarking on a business and technology transformation program built upon the three foundation pillars: Core Banking Transformation Program (Pillar 1), Data & Reporting Transformation Program (Pillar 2), and Technology Modernization Program (Pillar 3). This position supports Pillar 2 which will transform the data ecosystem by moving to a three-layer data architecture with capabilities such as data quality by design, standardized data, simplified near real-time data flows, high levels of automation, straight through processing (STP), and broad application of a risk based control framework. This will enable MUFG to improve controls, reduce expenses, enhance client experience, and develop advanced analytics to help drive our business.

Overall Purpose of Job:

The Enterprise Data Platform (EDP) Design & Controls team seeks a talented Cloud Data Engineer who will focus on data sourcing analysis, data quality, automated testing, exception processing, error handling & notification, and correction processing of source system data as it enters and is processed through the EDP. You will join a high profile lean and agile team that will focus on building the firm’s next generation data services platform.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop highly available distributed system to extract, transform and load (ETL) data from disparate sources across the organization. Build real-time analytics integrations with state-of-the-art digital banking systems.

  • Work with data providers and data consumers to build and deploy scalable Machine Learning models to production.

  • Design and build RESTful APIs, Automated Testing Systems, Event Monitoring and Notification Systems

  • Provide clear documentation on design decision and workflows.

  • Design & Develop Calculator component of Enterprise Data Platform and integrate with main data pipelines for the Data Lake

  • Work with partners including the Business, Enterprise Architecture, Infrastructure, and Chief Data Office to assist with

  • Support data reconciliation and controls in Enterprise Data Platform (EDP)

  • Handle user inquires and provide level 3 production support including Onsite/Offshore collaboration as needed

  • Maintain best practices to facilitate optimized software development and continuous improvement/delivery (CI/CD)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent.

  • 6 years' experience required

  • Professional experience as a Data Engineer, Software Developer or related field in building real-time data pipelines for very large datasets required.

  • Data engineering know how of SQL, Informatica PowerCenter or similar.

  • Hands-on experience in various programming languages like Python, Java as well as UNIX/Linux

  • Knowledge of cloud based architecture and solution is a big plus (AWS preferred)

  • Experience developing stream-based data pipelines like Kafka is a requirement for this position.

  • Awareness of data governance aspects like metadata, business glossaries, canonical models, etc

  • Experience with the ETL (Wherescape RED, Wherescape Streaming, Streamsets, SOAP API) toolsets a plus

  • Knowledge of Retail and Commercial Banking Deposit and Loan Systems is a plus.

  • Hands-on experience in designing and using relational databases like SqlServer, Oracle

  • Hands-on experience in advanced SQL

  • Hands-on experience in Enterprise Schedulers (such as Autosys)

  • Familiar with DevOps toolchain, i.e. BitBucket, JIRA, Jenkins Pipeline, etc.,

  • Ability and desire to learn new technologies quickly and ability to work independently and meet deadlines
