Job Summary :
Reporting into the Financial Institutions (“FI”) Enhanced Due Diligence (“EDD”) Support Unit Team Lead in the Center of Excellence (“CoE”) within the Global Financial Crimes Division (“GFCD”), this new position has been created to support the operational aspects of EDD for Banks and Non-Bank FI. This position will be located in Charlotte, NC. The role holder is responsible for oversight of audit controls, operational compliance with established bank policies and standards, adherence to quality assurance standards, and alignment of change management processes.
Major Responsibilities :
Examine and evaluate internal controls in key risk areas to ensure compliance with internal policies and applicable rules, laws, and regulations.
Create and maintain an inventory of controls within Global FI EDD Ops control environment.
Support the efforts to develop, document and implement the control testing strategy and methodology for Global FI EDD Ops.
Execute the testing of controls to ensure fit for purpose and best practices.
Document control test results and any issues identified and provide recommendations to management.
Assist Global FI EDD Ops colleagues to develop and implement control improvements to mature Global FI EDD Ops control framework.
Work with MI & Reporting partner to design meaningful metric and monitoring of key controls.
Partner with relevant stakeholders throughout the issues management lifecycle to ensure appropriate remediation of Global FI EDD Ops-owned issues.
Log all Global FI EDD Ops-owned issues, action plans and issue closure materials within MUFG Issue Management database.
Provide support with action plan development, tracking, reporting, change requests and compiling issue closure materials through issue closure.
Develop and produce monthly reporting on issues for the Global FI EDD Ops Director.
Deliver timely, high-quality compliance audit assurance reports for Internal Audit Department and Regulatory issue validations.
Ensure continuous monitoring & reporting in accordance with Internal Audit Department standards, relevant government statutes and regulations.
Review and manage requests for information from examiners, auditors, and Quality Assurance (“QA”) testers and coordinate with subject matter stakeholders to collect, review and submit responses.
Develop procedural implementation, quality assurance and change management processes to ensure proper governance and controls exist.
Collaborate with other Global colleagues in developing strategies and driving initiatives that support the key objectives of building the GFCD and CoE program in our drive to deliver great operational expertise, efficiency, and effectiveness.
Prepare routine updates for GFCD leadership, Senior Management, and the appropriate governance forums.
Perfered Qualifications :
Strong knowledge and experience in Foreign Correspondent, Wholesale Banking and product risks associated with cross-border transaction banking and payments; and client risks associated with foreign financial institutions and non-bank financial institutions.
Knowledge and experience with FATF and Wolfsburg guidance on AML and sanctions related to correspondent banking.
Broad and comprehensive understanding of different audit standards, policies and compliance regulations. Knowledge of Federal regulations (especially BSA/AML/OFAC).
Experience developing, performing, and documenting compliance testing.
Experience in evaluating the adequacy and effectiveness of policies, procedures, and controls.
Ability to synthesize information from multiple data sources into a clear evaluation and recommended actions.
Ability to make risk decisions within established policy and procedure and understand when to advance issues to management for further direction.
Detailed oriented with skills in documentation up to audit expectations.
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel for documentation and for production of reports.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint to produce status reports.
Ability to work with multiple lines of business, regional managers, senior management, and regulators.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage multiple assignments concurrently and meeting critical deadlines.
Demonstrate strong leadership and management skills that build solid working relationships within the Bank.
Ability and willingness to work independently.
Preferred training and experience in exam management, audit, or QA within the banking industry, investigative, and/or legal / compliance functions.
Education, Licensure, Experience :
Bachelor’s degree and CAMS Certificate preferred or equivalent work experience.
Minimum of 5 years direct work experience in risk analysis, accounting, investigative, or equivalent with related experience in, or another related area of banking.
