Job Summary:

Reporting into the Head of Financial Crimes Design, Tuning & Optimization, this new position has been created for the purpose of establishing GFCD Operations Intelligence & Analytics capabilities for BTMU.

The Design, Tuning & Optimization team provides analytics support for developing, optimizing and modifying segmentation, scenarios and thresholds to improve transaction monitoring which detect financial crime. Provide analytics support for Sanctions, Name Screening and Customer Risk Rating tuning and continuous optimization. Provide governance and oversight to Regional DTO teams to ensure global consistency.

One of several key positions in the new Global Financial Crimes Division Operations function, this position will be responsible for day to day governance and oversight, management and oversight of TM, CRR, Sanctions and Name Screening control documentation. Your work efforts will include coordinating and tracking all work items related to AML and Sanctions control management and internal/external audit reviews.

Major Responsibilities:

  • In connection with the Global Financial Crimes program –

  • Design and implement a sustainable global governance framework for the DTO Team related to AML and Sanctions Controls/Models.

  • Responsible for day-to-day governance and oversight of the Transaction Monitoring, CRR, Sanctions, and Name Screening controls within DTO Team.

  • Well versed in AML and Sanctions requirements, risk factors and governance framework.

  • Lead various governance forums in order to provide governance and oversight to changes in AML and Sanctions controls.

  • Ability to identify gaps and issues and escalate concerns related to AML and Sanctions controls.

  • Support the DTO Team in centralizing relevant and updating policies and procedures and ensure adherence to relevant frameworks.

  • Manage internal/external Audits, including Audit request management, stakeholder coordination, and oversight of timely corrective action plan management.

  • Track, coordinate and assist with closing internal and external findings.

  • Experience with TM, CRR, Sanctions, and Name Screening Tuning processes and model documentation requirements.

  • Remain current on applicable laws and regulations, industry trends and compliance to assist with continuous enhancements of AML/Sanctions controls.

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail.

  • Coordinate with regional Intelligence & Analytics DTO teams to implement the global model.

  • Work collaboratively across functional teams within GFCD to ensure effective and efficient operations with clearly defined roles and responsibilities.

Qualifications

Experience/Skills:

5 years of relevant experience in AML and Sanctions governance and oversight, controls, testing/monitoring at a large regulated financial institution.

Experience in finding/issue management, development of metrics and reporting for executive/board reporting.

Prior experience serving as a liaison with various stakeholders ie. Business, AML advisory, Sanctions Advisory, internal and external Auditors.

Flexibility and the ability to build relationships with internal stakeholders will be imperative to your success in this role.

Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively within all levels of an organization.

Additional skills

  • Experience interfacing with banking regulators and enforcement staff

  • Thorough understanding of an effective financial crimes risk management framework

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • The ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization, including Bank staff, management, directors and prudential regulators

  • Ability to work autonomously and initiate and prioritize own work

  • Ability to work with teams of project managers

  • Solid judgment, strong negotiating skills, and a practical approach to implementation – including knowledge of Bank systems

  • Ability to balance regulatory requirements with the best interests of the Bank and its customers

  • Ability to prepare analytical reports and visual representation of information.

Education:

A Bachelor’s degree from a 4 year college

Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) a plus.
