Job Summary

The AVP – First Line of Defense (FLoD) Know Your Customer (KYC) Project Manager is a highly critical and visible role, and will serve as a Project Manager and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the FLoD Control Office by managing projects for the KYC Global Roll Out program. .

The Project Manager is responsible for working with fellow stakeholders within the Control Office, the business units, and the Second Line of Defense (SLoD) to facilitate feedback on efforts related to Global Roll Out Program including but not limited to Operations readiness, procedures changes, program enhancements, and strategic alignment with KYC execution, processes and requirements.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

Project Management–

  • Collaborate closely with project stakeholders to facilitate, expedite, and ensure project plans / documented are completed on time;

  • Independently drive project deliverable with stakeholders and proactively manage communication, risk, and issues;

  • Responsible for operational readiness among stakeholders that would include communication, training, capacity planning and execution planning;

  • Develop and expand relationships with First Line and Second Line partners;

  • Proactively identify and remediate AML risk and KYC-related control issues;

  • Other duties, as assigned.

Subject Matter Expert -

  • Provide KYC SME guidance and credible challenge to the business units in the Wholesale and Regional Bank regarding the implementation and oversight of their KYC processes;

  • Partner with business units to support timely execution of KYC-related business initiatives while ensuring KYC requirements are met;

Coordinate with the business units and SLoD stakeholders on clarifying scope, process, and interpretation of KYC requirements. That includes:

  • Oversight and Management of FI Client onboarding, KYC and QC teams

  • New FI client onboarding, periodic and ad hoc reassessments and maintenance of KYC profiles

  • Quality Control of KYC profiles to ensure quality within risk tolerance and threshold

  • Governance of operational metrics including SLAs, quality, capacity for onboarding and QC processes

  • Development and roll-out of both strategic and tactical process changes

  • Ongoing calibration of process to sustain a high quality and efficient KYC process

  • Maintain close engagement with variety of stakeholders including Line of Business, Compliance (EDD, Advisory, CIU and FIU), QA, Oversight & Control Office Leadership.

  • Contribute to the evolution of global and local compliance and data governance policies

  • Participate in multi-disciplinary teams to address new business initiatives, system enhancement projects, and one-off assignments to improve customer experience and Bank transformation

Management Duties:

  • Knowledge of human resources and personnel management processes;

  • Ability to build, lead, motivate and retain a high performing work force.

  • Work with leadership to strategize and implement staffing models for long term efficiency and sustainability


Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, at a minimum, required

  • PMP Certification is a plus

  • 7 plus years’ experience in KYC, compliance and risk management, with a strong emphasis on BSA/ AML laws and regulations.

  • Strong understanding of Wholesale Banking products and U.S. banking regulations

  • Experience with analyzing and operationalizing policies through development of procedures and processes development and regulatory interpretation

  • Proficient in intermediate level PowerPoint and Excel

  • Experience handling sensitive information with a high degree of discretion

  • Experience leading large processes and large teams spanning geographies

  • Ability to maintain effective, collaborative working relationships at all levels

  • Strong leadership and effective communications both internally and externally with all levels, including meaningful experience interfacing with bank regulators.

  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively (both written and oral) to all staff levels

  • Critical thinking, analytical and problem solving skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to quickly establish rapport, credibility, trust, and respect, and be viewed as a team player.

  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities, work independently, and deliver results

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and critical thinking skills

  • Highly detail-oriented and organized execution
