MUFG KYC Onboarding Associate, Assistant Vice President in Jersey City, New Jersey

The selected colleague will work at an MUFG office or client sites four days per week and work remotely one day. A member of our recruitment team will provide more details.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates with internal partners such as Front, Middle and Back Office staff to obtain required information and applicable documentation related to client on-boarding and KYC production

  • Initiates and completes high quality KYC files inclusive of data input, research and analysis.

  • Perform KYC Remediation/Refresh on various lines of business within the scope of the Global Corporates team.

  • Maintain high quality KYC files and address any data inconsistencies to reduce errors.

  • Maintain detailed tracking of KYC file status and other customer record activities to ensure completion within required timeframes

  • Independently manage multiple simultaneous requests inclusive of customer data maintenance in a high-pressure work environment

  • Promptly address queries and assist with problem-solving of matters received from applicable stakeholders

  • Perform ad hoc reassessments of customer files when necessary

  • Identify, detect, or report suspicious activities in banking and finance services

  • Serve as a Subject Matter Experts (SME) – for core internal bank system and onboarding & KYC procedures

  • Maintain working knowledge of all regulatory obligations and be able to relate them to MUFG policies and procedures

  • Contribute to the evolution of global and local KYC policies and guarantee team knowledge of any updates

  • Maintain appropriate escalation procedures

Management and Oversight:

  • Maintaining and enhancing good working relationships with stakeholders, including business and control / infrastructure teams, auditors, regulators, local management and staff of the IDM function globally;

  • Leading projects and system enhancements as required, ensuring effective control and continuous process improvement.

  • Identification, escalation and resolution of issues regarding the department and related activities;

  • Ensure adherence to Know Your Customer Policies and Procedures and that said documents are updated in accordance with review schedules and remain relevant in the context of business/market events;

  • Ensure adherence to relevant regulatory requirements and accounting standards;

  • Provide backup leadership support and assist in setting up local strategy

  • Assist the team lead in ensuring that the team is properly resourced, operating on a high level of productivity and meeting deadlines for new, existing and adhoc’ed KYC files

  • Assist the team lead in developing and implementing team initiative implementation

  • Assign workload to KYC Analysts as necessary

  • Participate with multi-disciplinary teams to address new business initiatives, system enhancement projects, and one-off assignments as required.

  • Working closely with the compliance team to ensure KYC/CIP standards meet business and regulatory requirements.

Client Onboarding

  • Support the regional Anti-Money Laundering Compliance Officer (“AMLCO”) in the implementation of the Global KYC Standards.

  • Develop and communicate strategic roadmap for delivery of KYC process and work with the First Line of Defense for compliance with Standards

  • Maintain close working relationships with Financial Crime Risk Management business partners

  • Deliver performance, risk and trend analytics to stakeholders to identify weaknesses and improvement opportunities.

  • Understanding BSA/AML/Sanctions including internal policy, standards, onboarding process and system changes and work with management to ensure the firm remains in compliance.

Controls & Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with the Firm’s internal risk and compliance requirements, controls and procedures including but not limited to:

  • Conduct yourself at all times in a way which is commensurate with the Firm’s values and ensure that the needs of the Firm’s clients and the integrity of the market are placed at the heart of the carrying out of your duties and ensure all staff under your responsibility are conducting themselves as industry professionals and in accordance with policy guidelines;

  • Take reasonable measures to remain aware of key market and regulatory developments and, where necessary, attend training in this regard;

  • Comply with the Company’s policies and procedures as well as all rules, laws and regulatory requirements emanating from any of the regulatory authorities to which the Firm is subject.

Work Experience:

  • Experience of working closely with senior level stakeholders in the business and corporate functions;

  • Strong knowledge of workflows and processes across finance, risk and operations ideally with complex systems and architecture across multiple jurisdictions such as US, Canada and EMEA;

  • Hold strong alliances across businesses in order to effectively communicate priorities and areas of opportunity, and ensure company-wide initiatives are properly addressed;

  • Worked across cultures and regions to deliver change in an adaptable manner whilst ensuring the values of the organization are not compromised, including the confidence to say, ‘no’ to stakeholders;

Education / Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree;

Other:

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills useful.

  • Personal Requirements:Communication: succinctly conveys complex concepts and flexible in style;

  • Relationship Building: pro-active, approachable, calm natured, and resilient;Project Management: delivering results within demanding deadlines;

  • Technical Knowledge: substantial understanding of multiple facets of fixed income products (Rates, MBS, FX and Credit (Structured and Flow) set-up, market data and pricing flows.

  • Ability to think critically under pressure and deliver sound judgment

  • Excellent analytical skills, with the aptitude of independently performing complex or varied tasks, such as coordinating and analyzing large amounts of multifaceted data.

  • Mature approach with excellent and influential communication skills (verbal and written) to facilitate frequent interactions with internal customers, management and key stakeholders

  • Ability to recognize risks and make decisions based on sensory data or known guidelines

  • Ability to comprehend and follow instructions (verbal, written or diagrammatic) with strong detail orientation

  • Solid knowledge of KYC/AML and data governance policy

  • Strong time management, prioritization, work organization and multi-tasking skills with a drive for efficiency, accuracy and risk management controls

The typical base pay range for this role is between $94K - $120K depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
