Aviation Finance team (Global Aviation Finance Office (GAFO)), is part of the Corporate and Investment Banking Division for EMEA (GCIB). GAFO is managed by aGlobal Head and was a newly introduced virtual organisation connecting aviation finance teams in EMEA, Asia and US to properly run the aviation finance business seamlessly and consistently on a global basis.

MUFG’s Aviation Finance team provides financial services to Airlines, Operating Lessors, and other aircraft investors and owners, relating to the acquisition, ownership and leasing of aircraft, including but not limited to arranging, financing and distribution of full or limited recourse secured debt instruments. Our award-winning aviation team combines in-depth industry knowledge with solid relationships across the sector.




Operate as a member of the GAFO Business Management Team assisting Management to ensure that the business has a ‘license to operate’. This support will take many forms including administration, strategic and operational activities across a multitude of business disciplines.



Strategic Development

  • As a member of the GAFO Business Management Team support the Aviation business, where necessary, in performing key administrative tasks in an efficient and responsive manner

  • Support projects/initiatives for GAFO as required


  • Provide appropriate support to enable GAFO in their delivery of the financial targets set for EMEA GCIB

Operational Management

  • Update and maintain various reports to ensure that correct information is captured and monitored on an ongoing basis and reported as necessary

  • Liaise with EPD and Global businesses in respect to business practices, policies and guidelines

  • Undertake any appropriate ad-hoc exercises/reporting as assigned

Global Collaboration

  • Build relationships throughout MUFG to establish a peer network, gather relevant information and help to ensure effective interactive inter-departmental collaboration

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders within MUFG both regionally and globally

Governance, Risk & Compliance

  • To work actively with GCIB teams and internal risk management departments to strengthen the

  • identification and management of operational and compliance related risks impacting GCIB/GAFO

  • Assist Head of GAFO Business Management by acting as the first line of defence for GAFO in relation to first line controls – providing assistance to GCIB & GAFO to manage operational risks and ensure internal procedures are followed

  • Assist in the preparation of internal/external audits



Previous experience of the overall financial management and control of a front office business function, ensuring compliance with corporate governance, legal and regulatory requirements


Functional / Technical Competencies:


  • Sound business and market awareness

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a high level of motivation and initiative

  • Some experience of working within a financial institution

  • Some understanding of the internal workings of a bank

  • Good numerical, written and verbal communication skills, ability to communicate effectively at all levels

  • Good presentation skills

  • Detail conscious, ensuring reliability at all times, and committed to producing high quality and professional work in a team environment

  • Ability to deal with people of all types and personalities at all levels

  • Good IT skills – particularly Excel and PowerPoint

Education / Qualifications:


  • University degree, or equivalent experience in area of expertise
