OVERVIEW OF THE DEPARTMENT/SECTION

ESFO is a market leading Project Finance business. Alongside Project Finance (within ESFO) there is also a Housing Finance business which covers UK housing associations.

Project Finance incorporates Infrastructure, Energy (power, renewables and Natural Resources). Infrastructure covers, amongst others, transportation (rail, road, ports & airports) and social sectors (health & education) across greenfield and brownfield asset classes.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Providing support to enable the development, execution and management of the project finance debt and advisory products across the Energy, Infrastructure (including Housing) and Advisory teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Specifically, you will be accountable and responsible for taking appropriate action with respect to the Company’s and ESFO, including:

Bank entity responsibilities:

  • Responsible for conducting product and market research from a range of generalised and specialist sources, extracting relevant information and summarising data to inform decision making at more senior levels.

  • Responsible for sing existing models to analyse product performance, identifying simple patterns and trends to support decisions relating to product development or marketing.

  • Responsible for contributing to the production of credit applications, and responsible for the production of technical sections relating to a specific product area of expertise.

  • Responsible for preparing Business Screening Memos (Debt and/or Advisory) and Deal Screening Committee (DSC).

  • Responsible for liaising with clients at a counterpart level to relay specific information and respond to routine queries ensuring a high level of customer service.

  • Responsible for building relationships throughout the Bank to establish a peer network, gather relevant information and help to ensure effective inter-departmental collaboration.

  • Responsible for Working closely with other departments and stakeholders (including Portfolio Asset Management).

  • Being accountable for initial compliance checks in line with internal and external processes and procedures.

  • Responsible for developing a practical understanding of all core systems and procedures within ESFO and how they link into standard systems in order to respond to enquiries.

  • Responsible for providing guidance and overseeing work of more junior colleagues to ensure accuracy and timeliness.

  • Responsible for working closely with and support the financial modeller on a deal team and interrogate the financial model.

  • Responsible for assisting in the preparation of marketing materials (including proposals and pitches).

Securities entity responsibilities:

Through collaboration with MUFG Securities employees, responsible for facilitating the marketing and origination of transactions with your area of specialism in respect to the product suite. The non-functional nature of this role means that you will not be able to transact (which means lead any structuring, credit, execution or commitment discussions) on behalf of any MUS legal entity; though your role in Project Finance you will be able to share data and information, attend both internal and external meetings, offering up views and opinions. ll recommendations and final decisions around structure, credit, pricing, execution and commitment must be made by a MUFG Securities employee or a functional dual-hat employee .

Relationship with other functions and stakeholders

Maintain and enhance good working relationships with stakeholders, across the region and globally to share best practices, provide support and develop effective local policies and procedures appropriate to the Company, and working in support of the One MUFG and overall Group strategy.

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Desirable to have a level of project finance experience and/or project finance modelling experience.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Functional / Technical Competencies:

  • Knowledge of credit, risk management, market and legal aspects of project finance

  • Experience of using internal systems and procedures

  • Analytical skills including the ability to run simple financial models

  • Clear communication skills

  • Sound IT knowledge and skills

  • Quantitative / numerical skills

  • Interpersonal skills

Education / Qualifications:

  • Degree Level educated and/or relevant industry expertise
