OVERVIEW OF THE DEPARTMENT/SECTION

Aviation Finance team (Global Aviation Finance Office (GAFO)), is part of the Corporate and Investment Banking Division for EMEA (GCIB). GAFO is managed by a Global Head and was a newly introduced organisation connecting aviation finance teams in EMEA, Asia and US to properly run the aviation finance business seamlessly and consistently on a global basis. Building on our early success and very strong performance throughout COVID, the Bank is now seeking to expand our reach, goals and aspiratons which requires, as a first step, GAFO to seek several new joiners across the platform

GAFO has senior level support and access, and is MUFG’s first sector vertical team with oversight of all aspects of the aviation business within the Bank. This means that within GAFO, we have dedicated credit, portfolio management, Asset Management and Research teams as well as Origination working collaboratively together. As a very flat organisation, all members of GAFO have regular access to senior management.

As an expanding business, GAFO is still developing some aspects and the successful applicant will have the chance to grow with the role helping shape the future of the team and its goals. As a truly Global team, there will also be opportunities to explore assigments in different location in due course as well as with different teams

In line with the rest of the bank, GAFO has a flexible working policy with 2 days working from home and 3 days in the office, with flexibility around the days that any individual wishes to come in. The exception is a Wednesday when Origination has a “Team Day”. We feel it is important to have at least one set day a week where everyone is expected to come in to sit together as a team.

Work/life balance is an important aspect of our thinking and we actively discourage “face time” instead preferring higher productivity to longer hours. Of course there are times where a client or a transaction requires longer hours to be worked, however we aim to ensure this is balanced out with a flexible approach. Weekend work is rare but should this be required, additional days off in lieu can be discussed. An important KPI within our team is the use of bank sponsored volunteering days and staff are encouraged to participate in any number of sports, social and developmental societies hosted by the Bank.
