This Cloud team is part of the wider Platform, Cloud and Database team within Technology Infrastructure, which in turn is part of the Corporate Technology team. Corporate Technology is responsible for the operation, development and support of all infrastructure and applications across all relevant areas of the business, as well as ensuring IT strategy, architecture and solutions are aligned to stated business requirements.
Main Purpose of the Role :
Summary:
This role is Team Lead of the Cloud Platform Operations team. The responsibility of the team is to manage all aspects of the public cloud platforms for Iaas, PaaS and SaaS solutions. This includes architectural design and guidance, liaising with application teams, implementing solutions for and alongside application teams, and monitoring and supporting the cloud services and resources. Once systems and services are production ready, they are then handed off to the appropriate teams, along with required knowledge transfer.

Working alongside the Head of Platform, Cloud and Database and with the wider Technology Infrastructure Management and technical teams to define and execute cloud related strategy
A senior role that is responsible for leading a team that works deep within a disruptive technology sector, thus requiring an example of the right leadership, culture and behaviors’ that are required in the bank
Responsible for people management across the team, ensuring the right people in the right roles with a strong focus on building and maintaining future capabilities
Required to carry out the responsibilities of the role in accordance with company policy/procedures and as directed by line management
Responsible for managing, maintaining, enhancing and strategic development of cloud related technologies in EMEA
Propose, architect, design and deploy innovative cloud-based solutions that work alongside existing on-premise infrastructure
Responsible for cloud infrastructure, coordinating with infrastructure management and other expert teams to provide a complete architecture, roadmap and direction
Determine how existing IT infrastructure can be translated to cloud platform(s) such as Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS and Oracle Cloud (OCI)
Design, execute and support cloud & hybrid cloud PoC deployments, based on infrastructure strategy and/or business use cases
Provide internal support, guidance & skills growth internally for cloud platforms
Plan, manage and escalate risks/issues in a timely fashion to determine priorities and feed strategy
Provide appropriate levels of business support to end users
Provide advice and guidance surrounding cloud cost/capacity management optimization to maximize return of investment and to reduce total cost of ownership
Identify cost saving and optimization opportunities within the MUFG group
Provide advice in relation to system development, migration and integration of cloud-based solutions, including the operational and maintenance aspects of systems under development, and proposed system recovery procedures
Ensure IT controls are in place to mitigate all risks associated with cloud-based technologies. Support and partner with the Infrastructure Control function and the IT Risk, Security and Control departments in defining new policies and procedures covering areas of responsibility
Responsible for managing compliance to policies, standards and procedures
Responsible for ensuring new services are documented and deployed with BCP/DR in mind
Representation for relevant audit investigations and assessments, to review findings and to accept or challenge as appropriate
Responsible for addressing associated findings, executing corrective actions plans and implementing recommendations
Responsible for ensuring that sufficient capacity is available to accommodate expected growth in all managed platforms
Required to keep abreast of external market/solution trends to ensure all assigned product offerings remain relevant and meet industry expectations and standards
Responsible for the delivery of related programs and projects to support the core Infrastructure
Responsible for design and delivery of cloud components to all the other programs of change
Work across all areas of Infrastructure and IT to ensure that the Cloud team provides necessary capabilities to support other teams
Key Responsibilities:
The role will be responsible for management, maintenance, support, development and design contribution for all cloud related technologies across MUFG’s banking arm and securities business under a dual-hat arrangement. Under this arrangement, you will act and make decisions on behalf of both the Bank and the Securities business, subject to the same remit and level of authority, and irrespective of the entity which employs you.
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Planning & Strategy Development
Define strategies and plans for cloud infrastructure, ensuring plans are aligned to Technology infrastructure, the strategic goals of the business and wider IT functions and consistent with business strategy
Actively contribute to the development of the wider EMEA IT strategy and objectives, in line with the global IT strategy.
Assess cost and feasibility while planning and delivering services. Identify opportunities and implement strategies for efficiency enhancement, functionalities and service quality improvement
Define a strategy to migrate to use Cloud and reduce the physical data centre footprint
Deliver a reliable, robust, sustainable and efficient operating model by leveraging best practices from both Bank and Securities teams
Ensure relationships with other EMEA IT functions and business are actively managed to fully capture their infrastructure requirements
Ensure appropriate service standards and targets are reflective of business needs
Ensure key business drivers and effect on the EMEA IT portfolio is understood to forecast current and future demand for BAU and projects, through closely working with Planning and Change team
Service Execution
Ensure a highly available, reliable and performant cloud infrastructure is developed, maintained and supported to meet the business needs for availability, performance and control under a 24 x 7 support model
Ensure the cloud infrastructure architecture aligns to the business, information and application architectures
Ensure the teams resolve related requests and issues in line with expectations and coordinated by the Service Desk
Ensure performance of the service delivery is tracked and managed through pre-agreed KPIs
Ensure that all programme-aligned work is planned and delivered in line within timelines and budgets
Vendor Management
Provide subject matter expertise and input into the procurement process, including contract review and approval where relevant, coordinating with other EMEA IT functions and the procurement team
Identify potential areas within Infrastructure to leverage 3rd party vendor support or development effort to drive more efficient and higher quality services
Manage operational vendor relationships within Infrastructure to drive strategic values e.g. service quality, agility and cost align with the wider EMEA IT strategic objectives, leveraging KPIs when appropriate
Regularly review their operational delivery standards against pre-defined KPIs
People Management
Define strategy to appropriately organize and adequately resource staff with appropriate skillsets in order to achieve its strategic objectives and accommodate expected growth in BAU and projects
Lead, direct and manage staff within the team to ensure that they:
Understand the responsibilities applicable to their roles
Comply with company policies and procedures
Conduct themselves in a manner commensurate with company values

Oversee appropriate training is in place to fulfil current and future skill requirements

Risk Management
Identify key risks within the team, assessing and mitigating those risks in accordance with the appropriate risk management framework
Monitor and control operational incidents across the team, identify root causes and implement the necessary controls and processes to prevent a recurrence
Governance
Oversee the accurate reporting of all service standards for the team and systems with close coordination with the Planning and Service Management function
Oversee the team operates in a controlled way in accordance with standard procedures by adhering to related security and compliance procedures
In conjunction with IT Risk, Security and Control, ensure that all regulatory requirements are fully complied with, including SOX and FFEIC assessments and appropriate defenses and controls are in place to deal with all Cyber risks
Culture and Leadership
Actively lead the integration of Bank and Securities technology functions where applicable

The role will be responsible for Team Lead activities to support Cloud engineers to be effective
The team will be a mix of onshore full-time employees and also near or offshore staff augmentation or managed service resources

Functional / Technical Competencies:
Identity & Access Management: Identity Synchronization (e.g. Azure AD, AD Connect, LDAP), Portal Single-Sign-On (e.g. ADFS), Access management & RBAC
Billing, Subscription & Resource management: Organization structures, Subscription hierarchies, Billing & consumption reporting
Cloud Networking: vNETs, NSG’s, UDR’s, Peering, VPN’s, Load Balancing & Direct Connections (e.g. ExpressRoute)
Cloud Security: Virtual Appliances, policies, best practice, on-prem integration
IaaS: Running Windows & Linux workloads, porting/migrating on-premise workloads, Running workloads in a hybrid environment, Automation & Orchestration solutions
PaaS: Web apps, SQL Database, No SQL DB’s, MicroServices (e.g. containers, Service Fabric)
Work Experience:
Understanding of Cloud architectures and strategy for multiple deployment models - public, private, and hybrid
In-depth knowledge of at least one of the following cloud platforms (with exposure to at least one other): Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS, Oracle Cloud (OCI)
Hands-on knowledge of Cloud Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), Virtualization: VMWare/AHV, Hyper Converged Compute (HCI), virtual networking, security and application architecture
Proven experience in designing innovative business solutions
Track record in delivery of successful Infrastructure projects.
A good understanding of at least one Cloud Identity Security and Access Management implementation.
PowerShell/ARM/Python scripting skills (or other relevant languages)
Knowledge of application architectures using non-Microsoft technologies such as Linux, SAP, and Open Source technologies such as OpenShift, Docker, Kubernetes and similar
Additionally:
Exposure to both Cloud Marketplace Security services and products for Azure, AWS & Oracle platforms.
Understanding of Cloud related development concepts (e.g. Agile, DevOps, CI CD pipeline) & related tools (e.g. Azure DevOps, GitHub, TeamCity)
Education / Qualifications:
Degree educated and / or equivalent experience preferred.
Demonstration of any qualifications in any cloud related technologies and subsequent related experience.
