MUFG's expertise as a foreign exchange (FX) provider covers all major currencies and markets with a real focus on Asian currencies. We offer comprehensive trading services, as well as bespoke Foreign Exchange risk management solutions for a wide variety of situations. We focus on building high-quality, long-term relationships with our clients, who benefit from our excellent credit rating and liquidity position. This is underpinned by MUFG's global network that covers 50 countries. We enjoy market dominance in Asian currency trading. By joining the emerging market FX voice trading team you will be joining a dynamic team which is expected to see strong revenue growth through the next medium term business plan. You will be working closely with MUFG’s sales representatives to provide often bespoke trading solutions, to corporate, institutional, central bank, and government clients

Main Purpose of the Role

  • To be a subject matter expert in Asian currency trading.

  • To be a key participant in pushing our Asian Powerhouse Strategy for the EMEA region.

  • To serve the needs of MUFG’s EMGD FX client base with their Asian (EM) FX exposures.

  • To risk managed all customer flows during European timezone in Asian (EM) currencies.

  • To accumulate market making revenue.

  • To monitor positions of the EM desk and make sure desk is within credit and market limits.

  • To be a conduit between London and other global trading desks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support salesforce in providing solutions for their EM currency exposures.

  • React to client enquiries ensuring proposed solutions are appropriate for the client and meet the requirements of best execution.

  • To provide a competitive market making service to MUFG’s EMGD client base.

  • To trade and accumulate market making revenue particular in Asian currencies.

  • To price accurately all new currency pricing requests through voice channel.

  • To monitor all electronic delivery channels to ensure pricing streams are accurate.

  • To provide trade ideas and alpha generation in FX products especially EM related currencies.

  • To provide market commentary and updates both internally and externally on emerging markets.

  • To monitor market and credit limits for the desk.

  • Conduct business in line with regulatory requirements.

  • To support desk head with any specific requests.

Work Experience

Essential:

  • Direct front office global markets experience in trading with exposure to Asian currencies.

  • Proven track record of generating FX trading revenue.

  • Proven ability to work in a pressurized work environment.

Preferred:

  • Market making in one of KRW/IDR/INR or TWD offshore currencies.

  • Some experience in EM Rates.

  • Experience in trading both onshore and offshore Asian markets.

  • Exposure to EM Institutional investors.

Skills and Experience

Functional / Technical Competencies:

Essential

  • Passion for trading, particularly in FX or emerging markets space.

  • A strong understanding of FX markets especially the emerging market macro landscape.

  • Experience in VBA / Excel pricing sheets.

  • Strong macro economic and technical analysis skills

Preferred:

  • Intermediate development skills in C++ , Python or Java.

  • Demonstrated ability to create own pricers for EM FX forward curves using money market instruments.

  • Model and scenario analysis.

Education / Qualifications:

Preferred:

  • Advanced degree in financial or scientific field.
