Overall Purpose of Job:

Support Portfolio Management Group and handle credit coverage for Corporate clients in the Entertainment Finance vertical.

The Associate will be a corporate finance professional, supporting the Entertainment Finance industry vertical lending business. Critical function of assessing risk factors associated with a credit and determining appropriate rating based on established policies and guidelines. Responsibilities will include supporting the active credit management of a designated portfolio utilizing solid credit and analytical skills. Provide continuous oversight of portfolio names, monitoring for potential upgrading, downgrading and credit deterioration with the goal of maximizing net income and reducing credit costs.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of industry clients, including periodic reviews and communication of account information across various constituencies throughout the organization.

  • Support management of the aggregate MUFG Entertainment Finance loan portfolio.

  • Perform due diligence and recurring evaluation of loan portfolio for which they support.

  • Prepare detailed credit analyses and required credit application according to policy, including evaluation of corporate, regulatory and industry risk, historical operating performance, collateral coverage, cash flow/debt repayment capacity as required, projected operating performance and capital structure.

  • Perform modeling as required for various transactions in the portfolio.

  • Obtain knowledge in the broader Entertainment industry, including film and TV production and distribution, music and other tangential businesses and stay current on events transpiring in the portfolio utilizing internal and external sources.

  • Perform oversight of covenants compliance database and facility closing due diligence, including documentation.

  • Attend RM customer meetings when appropriate.

  • Perform and/or assist in special projects as assigned.

Advanced Credit/Underwriting Solutions:

  • Work within deal team environment (with GRM’s and various Product Partners) supporting Senior PM’s in the development and analysis of financing structures/strategies to support/identify new and existing transactions under various structures including both borrowing base and cash flow governed facilities.

  • Prescreen proposed transactions to identify critical structural issues and risks, balancing institutional policy with business development needs.

  • Work on credit transactions with bespoke structures.

  • Understand and maintain base industry knowledge of the various sub-segments represented in portfolio, including technical aspects, regulatory issues and unique credit product activity.

  • Participate in client and bank meetings as necessary.

Policy and Deal Advocacy:

  • Directly or via support of other PM’s, communicate and negotiate with CDA for transaction approval, including final allocation strategies to ensure alignment of risk strategy and policy.

  • Evaluate and establish appropriate ratings for transactions and correlate appropriate exposure level with regard to exposure on both a transaction and group level.

  • Ensure compliance with policy and regulatory requirements and providing accurate information to internal examiners upon request.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting (pursuing/possessing a CFA/MBA is a plus).

  • Solid credit and analytical background with at least 3+ years of experience in a related role.

  • Experience covering or within the Entertainment industry is a plus.

  • Modeling skills strongly preferred.

  • Completion of formal credit-training program at a money center bank is preferred.

  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong financial spreading/modeling skills required.

  • Good computer skills and ability to quickly learn new systems, Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.

  • Able to work independently and under pressure.
