Job Summary:

This position is a role within Americas Risk Management (ARM) and is responsible for designing and executing the strategy for critical processes that directly impact the enterprise including the full integration of risk identification inventory, risk appetite, risk frameworks, policies and procedures, and testing/monitoring/reporting. Additionally, need to provide inputs on the strategic build of the connection points across the different risk tools or system platforms that exist today. The processes within this portfolio are foundational to demonstrate the firm has effective risk management and will be applied across all risk types and will be utilized to manage internal and external partners, regulator and third-party relationships, and staff management as well as reporting for OCC Heightened Standards and Enterprise Risk Management. Accountable for the quality of and judgment calls in resulting work. Also, responsible for business remediation activities in relation to regulatory, audit and management self-identified issues. This position will interact with senior management within Enterprise Risk Management and others management level outside of Enterprise Risk Management. Creates, translates, and executes practical and achievable strategies tied to vision and departmental goals/objectives and helps others understand strategy and vision.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Process development for integration of all the foundational risk processes for enterprise-wide risk governance that covers all material risk areas (credit, ops risk, liquidity) and horizontal risk areas (data, risk reporting), while also operating within industry best practices, applicable regulations, and internal and external professional practice expectations.

  • Provides strategic input into and effectively challenges on both FLoD and SLoD's processes for integration and execution.

  • Provides input on data analytics for critical reporting components of material risk areas underpinning the Risk Governance Framework.

  • Act as a leader and role model to develop and promote a work place culture that values diversity of thought, promotes integrity and creates an atmosphere that supports coaching and fosters accountability; engage as a team player across peer group and in influencing the ARM Leadership Team; and continuously improve self and department. (e.g., employee engagement Survey, staff feedback, corporate social responsibility, personal professional development, peer, and external results).

  • Leads, maintains, identifies, and implements innovative methods and tools to bring efficiencies and quality to ARM’s processes including assessments, testing, reporting and GRC platform. Continuously monitor the business for changes that may affect the risk environment and would therefore, require revisions to processes and controls.

  • Maintains expertise of enterprise risks including along: business risks, control frameworks, management strategy, banking/regulatory practices, understands basic products, systems and process and develop expert knowledge of business industry and trends. Effectively partner with your team and other internal groups to provide subject matter expertise in the joint execution of the developed framework.

  • Advise and assist the business on change initiatives; and become a trusted advisor to stakeholders and related risk management functions.

  • Deliver insightful, timely and complete reporting, drawing upon prior industry, regulatory and risk management audit experience at the Combined US Operations (CUSO) level.

  • Self -identify and formalize potential concerns and control issues where possible and determine root causes of issues.

  • Execute on the remediation and closure of internal and external (e.g. audit, MSII, regulatory) enterprise risk management issues.



Education and Licensure:

  • A Bachelor's degree, preferably in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related business discipline at an accredited college or university. Advanced degree preferred.

  • Professional certifications, such as the CIA, CPA, or CFSA, are highly desirable.

Skills and Experience:

  • 5 years of risk management experience within the financial services industry, related markets, or related regulatory agencies.

  • Experience responding to requests from the financial industry regulators, including OCC, FRB, and FINRA.

  • In-depth knowledge of Internal or external audit or risk management experience, including significant management and leadership responsibility in a role directly involved with driving change and program enhancement.

  • Deep knowledge of risk assessment, controls, data risk management and reporting

  • Demonstrated proficiency in technology as required for assigned areas (MS Office, data analytics, etc.).

  • Exhibits effective communication (both verbal and written), negotiation and presentation skills; strong interpersonal skills; and ability to engage with all levels of internal audit, risk management and business line management.

  • Employs strong critical thinking skills to identify pragmatic recommendations within an evolving and increasingly complex regulatory and risk management environment.

  • Experience interacting with executives, control function leadership, and compliance subject matter experts.

  • Process oriented couple with a strong ability to develop appropriate program enhancing strategies.

  • Proven managerial skills necessary to successfully administer a core support and critical regulatory relationship function within a diverse organization and effectively coordinate between multiple business and support units.

  • Possesses strong project management skills; exhibits initiative and intuitive thinking; and demonstrates ability to meet strict deadlines.
