Responsibilities:
Shariah Secretariat
Undertake administrative/secretarial matters for Shariah Committee meetings - preparation of meetings’ minutes, compiling Shariah proposal papers, disseminating rulings/approvals, custodian for records of Shariah rulings and decisions made by the BTMUM’s Shariah Committee for internal research, advisory purposes and regulatory submissions.
Provide trainings to relevant staffs on issues related to Shariah, where relevant
Shariah Research
To perform research and study on Shariah issues on proposal submissions to ensure comprehensive deliberation.
To conduct preliminary Shariah screening for product/marketing literature approval process, research and vetting of issues
Provide day-to-day Shariah advice and consultancy to relevant internal stakeholders based on the applicable decisions and rulings made by BTMUM’s Shariah Committee from time to time.
To perform any other duties when deemed necessary and as per direction from Management.
Requirements:
Applicant must have a recognized bachelor’s degree from a recognised university in the sciences of Shariah, including Islamic transaction/commercial law (Islamic jurisprudence/Fiqh al Muamalat).
Preferably with minimum 2 years of relevant working experience.
Able to demonstrate and adequate understanding of finance in general and applications of Shariah in Islamic finance in particular / certification in relation to Islamic finance will be preferred.
Knowledge of banking regulatory environment and regulation preferred
Good spoken and written English / Good to fair level of Arabic proficiency to enable undertaking of Shariah research.
Strong PC skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
