Position – Vice President
Job Responsibilities:
Responsible for the daily supervision of the Credit Policy, Administration & Regulatory Reporting, and leading initiatives to create local credit policies, workflow and frameworks to ensure they meet regulatory needs and establish and manage a credit monitoring framework
Strategic
Support risk function to improve and supervise the Credit Risk Framework for Indian operations, including developing and implementing policies, interfacing with business areas, Head Office risk appetite and regulators
Assist in coordinating approval of specific deals and resolution of related issues. Customer
Lead the partnership with key internal stakeholders (GCIB, JCIB, Markets, Legal, Compliance and Finance teams at India level) and external (Regulators, Auditors) stakeholders to deliver a robust Credit Risk function that balances business needs and complies with regulatory and internal credit policy requirements.
People
- Responsible for guiding staff for on objective setting & performance management and developing (coaching, career progression & training) the teams aggregating 10 members
Other/Control (functional)
- Policy, Procedures and Audit
Support the Head of Credit Risk and CRO in the establishment and review of credit related rules, procedures, new projects etc. and ensure that they are in compliance with Head Office rules and local regulations for strong risk governance framework.
Support periodic audits and examinations (internal and external) within the department by reviewing the recommendations and establishing countermeasures as appropriate.
- Credit Documentation and Credit Control
Support the team to review, enhance and improvise processes for
Monitor covenant checks, due date control, approval conditions etc. done by the team and ensure all checks are carried out in a timely manner.
Monitor preparation of credit documentation by the team and support customization of documents with inputs from Legal.
Monitor document verification, limit registration and safe custody of documents.
Identify risk in the process and resolve such risk to enhance credit documentation and credit control
- Credit Reporting
Monitor the preparation of regulatory (RBI) reporting for credit related items including ICAAP (Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment) and Stress Testing and ensuring that regulatory stipulations are adhered to.
Collate and review various reports prepared by the team to ensure accuracy prior to submission to Head Office.
Risk Control and analysis Monitor development, maintenance and evaluation of portfolios for compliance to bank-wide policies and procedures as well as banking regulations.
Risk Evolution
To guide and support the team for development of system- automation for various reports (internal and external)
Maintain good working knowledge of latest industry trends, products, relevant laws and regulations so as to apply them in strengthening the risk framework
Job Requirements:
Skills & Knowledge:
Strong knowledge of local regulations (including reporting) relating to Credit and able to provide sound advice to other members of the team as well as being able to formulate changes to the Bank’s current rules and procedures.
Good knowledge of Corporate Banking products and services.
Good experience in establishing Credit frameworks & control mechanisms and ability to upskill in line with emerging requirements.
Extensive knowledge of Credit and related legal documentation under both Indian and English law.
Good communication & stakeholder management skills with ability to influence others
Strong coaching, mentoring and leadership skills
Education and Professional Qualifications Length and Type of Experience:
Degree qualified.
15 years of relevant experience in Credit Policy & Administration for an international bank with a large presence in India with at least 5 years in a team management role.
