This is a hybrid position. The selected colleague will work at an MUFG office or client sites up to four days per week and work remotely the remaining day(s). A member of our Talent Acquisition team will provide more details.

Role Summary:

The Business Strategy & Management – ITA Business Finance is responsible for managing and executing on business operation activities, including compliance with policies and procedures, reporting operational metrics and OKRs, strategy and planning, engagement, guidance on organizational decision-making, and management of executive routines, budgets, goals, including resource, focus on overseeing financial and/or RCT verticals and objectives. This role will report to the Head of ITA Business Management for Technology. Primary accountability will be to oversee driving the Strategy and Execution of ITA Expense and Expense Reduction Plans, Liaise/ Coordinate with CFO Org. In addition, the role will then be responsible to refine and manage program and governance structure, resources, routines, reporting and communication within the future organization.

Deliver on key strategic items for the technology organization (ITA); Develop and execute an ITA strategy that establishes priorities, sets expectations, defines success criteria, and directs resource allocation; Measure and report on ITA performance and risk execution associated reporting functions for ITA; Manage the resource allocation process through the Resource Control Tower; Manage ITA leadership routines and coordinated content development for the enterprise; Recommend and implement a clear process for the efficient flow of information including the broader ITA organization to and from the leadership team and outward to lines of business and executive committees including the board of directors; Ensure the development and operationalization of standards, policies, and processes to identify, report and mitigate operational risk exposures within the business

Key Responsibilities:

Business Strategy

  • Partners with the relevant stakeholders to develop and maintain the business strategy to drive effectiveness, efficiency, and business transformation.

  • Partners with Human Resources to ensure strategic goals tie back to employee performance expectations and rewards.

  • Focuses on internal customers (employees and business units), working to streamline business processes and break down barriers to align to business priorities, use automation, gain efficiencies, and enable an ambitious business.

  • Provides strategic mentorship and advisory services, promoting partnership among functions with key partners across the firm.

  • Strong management skills, excellent communication skills, both oral & written, and ability to interact with all levels of management.

  • Good consensus-builder; able to drive large scale initiatives across multiple stakeholder groups, work through obstacles and remove barriers.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and diverse projects including analytical thinking, planning, prioritizing, problem solving, decision making and managing programs that impact the entire organization.

  • Demonstrated history of delivering positive results in project work, including high quality implementations within timeframe and budgetary constraints.

  • Experience interacting with regulators on examinations and issues remediation and second line and third line of defense and to ID and resolve issues internally preferred.

  • Strong general manager with ability to prioritize, plan, and execute business initiatives, related metrics and reporting, resources, governance, and routines to enable improved business performance.

  • Demonstrated ability to utilize data to continually identify opportunities for improvement, solutions, and execute.

Financial Planning and Cost Controls

  • Develops strategies to increase the company's bottom line.

  • Works with Leadership and the Finance team to monitor and control financial spend.

  • Monitors spend vs. budget, reports variances, finds opportunities to optimize spend and increase financial efficiency.

  • Ensures regular review and transparency of financials.

  • Implements appropriate approval processes for prudent financial management.

Communication, Governance, Leadership, and Management (for CAO assigned organizations - FLOD Ops and Tech Risk and Controls, CAO, EPMO, and others as assigned)

  • Overall, manage the day-to-day operations and personnel matters for all organizations assigned to the CAO.

  • Manages the governance team that administers tier 1 and 2 assigned committees and forums under the CAOs purview.

  • Develop and handle business performance and management reporting through channels such as quarterly business reviews, executive presentations.

  • Maintains alignment with Home Office strategies and goals.

  • Ensures employee compliance to policies and standards.

  • Ensures the organization has clear procedures to manage employee scheduling, time and attendance tracking, and performance monitoring, leveraging central firm-wide processes where possible.

  • Ensures all internal risk practices, strategies and policies are adhered to and communicated throughout all operating groups and that all staff understands and applies bank operating policies and procedures.

  • Ensures the development and operationalization of standards, policies, and processes to identify, report and mitigate operational risk exposures within the business.

  • Manages transformation of associated organizations, including risk and controls, enterprise project management, budgeting, organizational design, and risk remediation processes and functions - Including automation, process efficiency , and environment / task simplification.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Works effectively in a team environment; addresses conflicts appropriately, and builds productive partnerships with customers, business partners, and stakeholders to achieve targeted business results.

  • Extraordinary communicator: builds relationships with business partners and ensures prompt, transparent, dedicated, and effective communications with these partners; presents complex issues and ideas with precision and clarity, adjusting appropriately for the audience; ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.

  • Skillfully crafts senior-level partner presentations, tailored appropriately to the audience. Able to grasp new technology paradigms and assess them rapidly, using deep and broad technology experience in large, complex environments.

  • Experience bringing together diverse groups to solve complex problems in a collegial atmosphere.

  • Can think big and act fast with a start-up mentality while able to operate in a corporate environment. Insatiable desire to learn and continue to push the envelope of current practices and technologies.

  • Ability to hire, mentor, develop and supervise the work of highly skilled teams and network and maintain relationships with known industry experts and leaders.

  • Undergraduate degree in relevant field; graduate degree (MBA or related) preferred.

  • Proven leadership and management experience in the Financial Services industry leading large matrixed organizations.

  • Generally, expect 10+ years of experience, but other industry experience will be considered.

  • Preferred Experience: First line of Defense Risk and Controls, Capital and Expense Budgeting, Contract and Personnel management, Organizational Design and Transformation, Reporting and Governance management, and general leadership and management of large matrixed organizations.

The typical base pay range for this role is between $170K - $335K depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
