Job Summary

The Analyst role is an integral part of the Power & Utilities team, assisting in the management of major client relationships on behalf of MUFG. The Power & Utilities platform is consistently a top-5 lead arranger of syndicated loans and debt capital markets bookrunner, with an uninterrupted 30+ year track record of banking the most active utilities, independent power producers and financial sponsors across the U.S., Canada and Latin America.

The Analyst will consistently provide relationship back-up to the Relationship Managers / Vice Presidents / Associates and consult with various product areas within the Bank to facilitate the development of new business opportunities. The position will require frequent monitoring and updating of our profitability and exposure tracking systems, financial analysis on proposed deals and staying abreast of client financing strategies and activity. The Analyst will handle the operational aspects of business origination such as drafting pitch books, analyzing portfolio profitability, managing documentation, performing follow-through related to the deal origination process, KYC, and preparing economic capital analysis, etc. The Analyst will provide business development support where needed including deal due diligence, industry research, marketing material production, coordination with product areas, as well as other activities as identified by the RMs.

Position will be based in downtown Los Angeles.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Secondary or tertiary point of customer contact for client relationships

  • Monitor and maintain up-to-the-minute knowledge of market trends, customer development and credit issues—conduct due diligence, including basic-to-advanced financial analysis, on proposed client deals as required

  • Execution of operational aspects of business origination, including drafting pitch books, tracking opportunities, company / industry research, etc.

  • Product group liaison to assist in pitching and structuring transactions

  • Management of internals systems, such as Salesforce, Profitability Tracker, Global Exposure Lists, etc.

  • Liaison with product teams and other internal groups

  • Special projects as assigned

Qualifications - External

  • Bachelors’ Degree or higher

  • Strong business acumen and interpersonal and analytical skills

  • Financial modeling skills and Microsoft Office (Excel, PPT and Word) experience is necessary

  • Excellent organization, time management, and attention to detail

  • Credit experience preferred

  • Marketing experience preferred
