This is a hybrid position. The selected colleague will work at an MUFG office an average of two to three days per week with the remainder worked remotely.

Job Summary:

The Financial Manager Treasury Associate is a key member of the Treasury Finance & Project Management team within the Global Markets Division of the Americas for the global commercial & investment banking activities. The Associate will manage Treasury’s business unit financials and forecasts, business analytics and risk & control tasks, and report to managers at all levels of the organization including global head office in Japan and senior leadership within the U.S. The Associate will report to the Head Director of Treasury Finance & Project Management team.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Execute end-to-end financial forecasting for Treasury’s Balance Sheet and P&L activities within the Global Markets Division of the Americas on behalf of the global commercial & investment banking activities

  • Treasury Balance Sheet products primarily include global wholesale funding products related to money and capital market securities; (CD/CP/Non-Maturity and Time Deposits, Medium-Long Term Corporate debt, the Liquid Book Investment Securities Portfolio (Buffer Assets Portfolio)

  • Treasury P&L includes associated Interest Revenue and Expense, Mark to Market and Fee Income/Expense. The position is also responsible for Direct and Indirect Expenses management

  • The Associate will work closely with internal key stakeholders both within Treasury (Funding, Sales and Trading desks, Funds Transfer Pricing, Project Management, Liquidity) and outside of Treasury (Central FP&A, Controllers, 2nd Line Risk), to ensure forecast accuracy and make necessary overlays

  • Generate and submit month-end close reporting comparing monthly results to forecasted and budgeted levels in summarized views for leadership including U.S. Treasurers and global head office in Japan

  • Manage expense budgeting/reporting process including verification of Transfer Pricing among different legal entities under MUFG

  • Coordinate and resolve financial questions and issues

  • Conducts and directs financial-based research and analysis projects

  • Possible additional/ad-hoc responsibilities as follows:

  • Produce monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc financial reports regarding trends, variances, profitability, and performance measurement

  • Financial modeling, graphing and reporting

  • Analyze forecast results as well as historical actuals

  • Manage Treasury risk & control tasks including issues (Regulator, Audit, Self-Identified, etc.), and ensure all issues have monthly updates and are on track for on-time remediation

  • Assist in coordinating and supporting the risk assessment cycles (Treasury Risk Appetite Statement (RAS) as well as the RAS Monitoring Report, etc.)

  • Being the liaison for Treasury accounting Requests for Information supporting Regulatory and SEC filings

  • Prepare, supervise, and provide quality control in the preparation of complex analytical, financial and risk & control reports and presentations

  • Create managerial reporting slides in various formats for presentations at executive level committees and meetings

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Provide support and assistance on Treasury revenue management tasks including profit analysis in conjunction with the Bank’s funding and lending activities as well as buffer asset portfolio management


  • Bachelor's Degree with at least 3+ years of internal or industry experience in financial management. Direct experience in managerial accounting and finance is a plus

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Excel and PowerPoint required including the ability to model and create complex spreadsheets, look up tables, pivot tables; able to quickly organize large amounts of data into summarized reporting with the use of Excel formulas and Excel-based automation (either formulas or macros). Experience with financial software (such as Hyperion) is a plus

  • Understanding of banking products and financial statements

  • Self-starter with a strict discipline to ensure on-time submission of key deliverables

  • Excellent organization and time management skills, handling multiple tasks/projects with attention to detail

  • Strong presentation and communication (oral and written) skills required

  • Strong collaboration required across Treasury segments and global business units

The typical base range for this role is between $90 K- $110 K depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and location.
