Global Financial Solutions (GFS)

MUFG’s Global Financial Solutions (GFS) is a structuring group that delivers customized solutions to address CFOs’ and Treasurers’ unique corporate objectives and financial issues. The team is comprised of professionals with various backgrounds and expertise (e.g., corporate finance, tax, accounting, etc.) to design and deliver bespoke value-added solutions to MUFG’s clients.

Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Market Strategy Leader (Pursuit Leader) at Director level to join our Global Financial Solutions (GFS) team within Global Corporate and Investment Bank. The Market Strategy Leader will play a critical role in winning new business by supporting relationship managers with all aspects of client pitches. This role involves coordinating and leveraging the activities of our independent research function, structuring team, and capital structures team to develop and present tailored solutions for clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Market Analysis: Understand value drivers, value propositions, stakeholder maps, competitive landscapes, decision processes, and timelines to create actionable pursuit strategies.

  • Content Creation: Develop strategic messaging and lead the conceptualization of client-facing materials, ensuring quality control throughout the pursuit process.

  • Client Pitch Support: Collaborate with other internal stakeholders to develop targeted client pitches, utilizing research reports, white papers, and industry-specific insights.

  • Team Coordination: Bring together the research, structuring, and capital structures teams to create cohesive and compelling client-facing materials.

  • Client Relationship Management: Engage early with client business leaders to build relationships and gather a deep understanding of the client's current needs and challenges.

  • Pursuit Strategy: Own the creation and execution of strategic engagement plans, collaborating with team members and across the company to ensure continued alignment and action.

  • Win Strategies: Create win strategies that address the business goals and needs of clients, ensuring alignment with MUFG's offerings.

  • Solution Design and Coordination: Support the design of solutions across GFS, ensuring they align with the client's business goals and requirements.

  • Market Trends and Best Practices: Stay abreast of the latest trends, best practices, and insights in the financial services industry to create innovative and competitive solutions.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in market strategy, market research, business development, or a similar role within the financial services industry.

  • Good understanding of corporate finance, structuring solutions, and capital markets.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to create compelling client-facing materials.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage and coordinate cross-functional teams.

  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills and the ability to develop actionable pursuit strategies.

  • Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.

Compensation & Benefits

The typical base pay range for this role is between $220k - $250k depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
