This is a hybrid position. The selected colleague will work at an MUFG office an average of two to three days per week with the remainder worked remotely.

Job Summary

Credit Officer within the Second Line of Defense responsible for providing credit recommendations on new transactions and managing a portfolio of client and transactions. Individual will recommend, monitor and manage transactions and the credit exposure in their portfolio and develop exposure management programs when appropriate. Individuals at this level are knowledgeable of the day-to-day activities associated with managing credit risk.

Major Responsibilities

The individual will be responsible for credit exposures arising from structured credit transactions involving a range of asset types, but principally corporate credit as an underlying asset (e.g. Middle Market corporate loans). They will make recommendations on credit requests based on analysis of relevant credit metrics and structure of a transaction depending on whether recourse or non-recourse including due diligence on sponsors/managers.

The candidate will work closely with the Business Line in the origination and control of such exposures. They are expected to identify the potential credit deterioration of individual transactions/counterparties in their portfolio and maintain timely and accurate risk ratings. Staying current on changes and potential changes in the sector and market or regulatory developments is an important element. Additional responsibilities will include presentations to senior executives and discussions with internal auditors.

Deal Support

  • Work with business lines/product groups to identify prospective transactions, conduct appropriate due diligence of the client and transaction structures and assess the risk potential

  • Identify structural risks and mitigates in prospective transactions and recommend/enhance structuring of deals and covenant in line with policies and procedures.

Policy Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with external regulatory/internal policy and procedural requirements

  • Participate in ad-hoc policy meetings to enhance organization wide credit risk framework

  • In conjunction with the Business Line, help define appropriate reporting and monitoring framework for the portfolio of risk over which oversight is exercised

Requirements

  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting or other related fields.

  • 5-10+ years of work experience in credit or risk related functions.

  • Coverage of Financial Institutions/Hedge Funds not required, though knowledge and experience in assessing complex financing transactions across a range of collateral types, including structuring, sponsor/manager due diligence / and documentation terms is a strong plus.

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills

  • Experience in analyzing/supporting investment banking products including asset-based lending (securitization, leasing) and understanding of structure risks inherent in such finance is a plus.

  • Knowledge of loan documentation and structural risks in corporate finance.

The typical base pay range for this role is between $140k-$180k depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and location.
