Mid-level syndicate role focused specifically on execution process and the connective tissue between syndicate, sales and middle office/operations. Role will be multi-dimensional on a product basis (bond, loan and equity) with an initial focus on the bond product but providing a long-term support framework for the other products.


  • Contribute to a sustainable, client focused, primary markets underwriting business for MUFG clients in the Americas.

  • Improve communications internally across MUFG to maximize opportunities and improve efficiency.

  • Work seamlessly with sales and trading to proactively deliver execution solutions for clients and uptier relationship status.

  • Underwrite and execute transactions that are originated by MUFG Group entities.

  • Coordinate the execution of associated products through other Group entities.

  • Issuers are predominantly non-Japanese corporate, FI and public sector borrowers who issue securities that are sold to investors globally.

  • Investors will be sourced through the institutional sales teams of MUFG globally.

Principal Duties

Deal Execution.

  • Works directly with origination team and where applicable sales to deliver a successful transaction in a Lead Left capacity.

  • Supports syndicate deal captains (senior level syndicators) in the execution of the deal from preannouncement preparation, formal announcement to sales and thereby their investors, investor marketing, bookbuild, pricing, ticketing and ultimately funding and settlement.

Desk Governance/Management.

  • Drive execution efficiency across the region and as applicable, in concert with the other regions of the Americas, Europe, Asia (ex-Japan) and Japan.

  • Maintain and enhance good working relationships with stakeholders, including business and control / infrastructure teams globally.

  • Enhance and develop MUFG’s processes and connectivity with regard to new syndicate technologies including but not limited to electronic orderbook systems and direct investor access.

Risk Management (Syndicate)

  • Accurately price all new transactions and all risk positions through the use and continued development of market-leading pricing and hedging methodologies.

  • Help manage all relevant risks within the Firm’s underwriting process and risk appetite through the use of the Firm’s accepted approval processes and continued development of market-leading risk management models and monitoring tools.

Client Relationship, Development and Engagement.

  • Contributes to deal execution and is viewed by internal and external constituents as a lead left execution desk.

  • Commands respect and confidence of clients on MUFG’s execution capabilities.


  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required if a minimum 10 years of experience in the capital markets syndicate process and associated infrastructure, including emerging technology from back office operations through front office client execution and management.

  • Must be eligible for employment under regulatory standards applicable to the position with FINRA licenses preferred but not required as role with focus on the administration and technology of the syndicate process.

  • Proven track record of technology process development successes, project management and ability to work independently.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to work effectively in a dynamic work environment and across functions.

The typical base pay range for this role is between $142K-$187K depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and location.
