MUFG is one of the largest financial groups in the world. MUFG Bank Paris branch is a company on a human scale that provides investment solutions to a broad array of international customers.

We are looking to hire a Compliance Officer whose role will cover both regulatory compliance and financial crime. The candidate will assist in the Compliance coverage of the business lines of the Paris branch, which includes maintaining a robust financial crime and core compliance function, advising the business on transactions, analysing applicable EU and French laws and regulations and reporting identified risks and issues to senior management.

The role is based in Paris and requires daily interactions with our Regional Headquarters based in London. The candidate will report to the Head of Compliance of the Paris branch.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Review of due diligence checks with respect to KYC

  • Review AML and sanctions alerts, as the case may be investigate potential money laundering and fraudulent financial activity across client business lines, including drafting suspicious activity reports (SAR)

  • Preparing reports and risk assessments required by applicable processes

  • Acting as a contact point for local escalation of compliance-related concerns, incidents, breaches of legal and regulatory requirements or Group policies and procedures regarding all compliance matters.

  • Review Compliance policies and procedures regarding all compliance matters, including financial crime (KYC, Sanctions, AML and ABC) and core compliance (market conduct, cross-border transactions, data privacy etc)

  • Analysing the impact of new laws and regulations, in coordination with the Legal Department

Essential Requirements include:

  • 3 to 5 years in a wholesale/investment banking compliance function with regulatory compliance and/or financial crime experience

  • Fluent English & French

  • Law, compliance or economics degree or similar

Skills required:

  • Ability to apply legal and regulatory requirements to practical situations

  • Strong communication skills, excellent French and English language skills (written and spoken)

  • Being well-organised and solution-oriented

  • Good Microsoft-Excel, -Word, -Outlook and -Powerpoint knowledge

  • Ability to perform duties pro-actively and reliably under pressure

  • Enjoyment of teamwork and being a team player
