Reporting to the Credit Manager, the Credit Executive is responsible for the credit quality, analysis and regulatory compliance of all prospects and existing customers as assigned via the Business Banking Group. Major Responsibilities:

  • 70% - Credit Underwriting - Analyze, evaluate, structure and approve loan requests from Development Officers and Client Advisors. Responsible for structuring of transactions, including collateral terms, pricing, etc. Structure loan packages using discretion with terms, PG & LGD ratings, down payment, amortization, financial covenants, reporting requirements, etc, as deemed appropriate to each unique package. Determine financial spread, borrowing base. Perform financial analysis and risk assessment; prepare loan presentations. Analysis includes real estate, financial statements, personal statements, cash flow, global analysis, credit investigation, due diligence on industry, management, prospects. Call on customers and prospects jointly with Sales. Assure that the Bank’s Risk Management and internal policies and procedures are being adhered and waived as appropriate. Ability to negotiate with Senior calling officers and customers and ability to present critical credit and risk items to the Chief Risk Officer and associated governance groups.

  • 15% - Loan Packaging - Ensure loan documentation reflects approvals and protects bank, Legal and regulatory requirements. Regular interface expected with legal, loan operations, senior management and customers.

  • 5% - Portfolio Management - Responsible for portfolio management of a complex diverse commercial portfolio. Handle substitution of collateral requests and term modification requests. Collect and analyze information which reflects and supports the creditworthiness of current customers and the merits of existing loans; prepare financial spreads and notify the Department Manager of any material trends that are negative. Ensure portfolio is monitored and reflects legal contracts with individual borrowers and represents compliance with internal and external requirements. Variance must reflect substantiated and appropriate approvals.

  • 10% - Other - Participate as needed in the Credit Examination process to achieve a satisfactory examination. Keep abreast of new developments in the field and changing government regulations; Interfaces with customers and staff members in a courteous and efficient manner; Perform other related duties as assigned. Ability to analyze portfolios from a credit worthiness and viable/ROI perspective.

Qualifications

Familiar with spreading systems and methodologies, asset rating theory and classification risk mitigation. Standard knowledge of cash flow, financing accounting, credit analysis and documentation required. Effective listening, verbal, and written communication skills required. College degree with working practicable understanding of portfolio management procedures and protocols or job equivalent work experience with completion of commercial loan training program.
