Job Summary:

In this role you will focus on planning, obtaining, tracking, and disposing of physical (e.g., hardware) and software technology assets. Responsibilities include overseeing software-license entitlement and physical inventory management; provisioning assets for employee onboarding and off-boarding; generating reporting; and resolving exceptions and escalations.

  • Manage inventory and lifecycle of hardware and software assets (including dependencies), to ensure that modifications, withdrawals, and additions are correctly recorded by teams to ensure compliance with vendor contracts

  • Apply a continuous improvement approach in enhancing the strategies employed in technology spending, as well as in tracking company assets within the CMDB throughout their lifecycle

  • Provide scheduled key performance indicator (KPI)/metric information and standardized reporting, including compliance on current assets and trend analyses

  • Establish and maintain documentation of procedures, processes, and reports concerning asset and configuration management

  • Take part in other IT Service Management (ITSM) processes, or as required, perform as a back up to maintain operational activities

  • Collaborate with infrastructure teams to determine trends in asset performance and maintain best practices


  • Bachelor's Degree in finance, IT, business management or related field.

  • 5-6 years' experience working in IT asset management. Including minimum 3+ years' experience in software asset management with at least 2+ years experience managing a tier 1 software publisher (Oracle, IBM, etc.) and asset management software (ServiceNow, Flexera).

  • Experience in a large organization with a remote workforce, preferred

  • 2+ years' experience working in highly regulated industries (i.e., banking or financial services), preferred

  • Experience working with a configuration management database (CMDB) and the specific business services that it supports

  • Proven ability and experience in executing strategic asset management processes successfully

  • Experience with licensing agreements involving software, including Microsoft, IBM, and Oracle

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to adapt to the audience.

Required skills:

  • Strong knowledge of IT software and hardware asset management.

  • Familiarity with common IT asset management cost savings and risk mitigation strategies.

  • Experience managing multiple software publishers simultaneously.

  • Experience managing and controlling risks due to software vendor audits.

  • Ability to read and understand software license agreements, spot opportunities or risks within them, and understand how well they align to the organization’s priorities and business requirements.

  • Experience delivering regular software license reviews that identify and action plan resolutions for financial opportunities and risks, particularly end of life risks.

  • Track record of working with sourcing and product owners to identify the most cost-effective licensing strategy for meeting business requirements.

  • Significant experience with normalizing both Software Purchase data and software usage data.

Other preferred skills:

  • Experience using ServiceNow to deliver on key Software Asset Management objectives

  • Experience with the data available from a broad range of discovery and management tools (SCCM, ILMT, Microsoft End-point Manager, etc.) and how to use the data to deliver on key Software Asset Management objectives.

  • Experience Managing business unit license usage and ownership, particularly in support of mergers and acquisitions.

  • One or more of the following certifications a plus: IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL), Control Objectives for Information and Related Technology (COBIT), or IT Asset Management
