Data Loss Prevention Senior Engineer, Vice President - REMOTE

The Vice President –Data Loss Prevention Technical Senior Engineer will ultimately be responsible for the design, innovation, operation, architecture, and thought leadership for the firm’s Data Loss Prevention solution (DLP). This position will collaborate guide and lead the rest of the engineers, acting as the senior authority on all aspects of the firm’s DLP system. The expectation is that beyond being a great leader, this person will have not just a masterful understanding of our DLP system (Symantec/Vontu), but will also have a masterful understanding of DLP strategy, capability, and use cases. This role is for a SME not just with great technical acumen, but also with great vision of where to take our program
Act as the Senior Engineer and Technical Lead within Enterprise Information Security for the Data Loss Prevention Team.
Be the technical SME responsible for enterprise-wide data loss prevention
Provide thought leadership on DLP usage strategy, monitoring, alerting, reporting, and blocking
Be the subject matter expert (SME) for the firm’s DLP solution (Symantec/Vontu)
Lead a team of DLP engineers who will need guidance and expert help
Evaluate enterprise DLP system architecture and ensure best in class design
Create complex permission levels allowing regional and line of business separation of incident viewing
Be such a master with DLP that you come with innovative solution after innovative solution. Create. Think of ways to use the system that others wouldn’t. Be a master
With experience and absolute certainty help convey requirements for the database tables we need to populate with data for our EDM feeds
Write complex regular expressions to build pattern matching
Be an expert not just around knowing how to get the data you need in reports, but in knowing what is important to report on
Be a willing and approachable teacher. Actually be proactive and voluntarily help your team learn
Demonstrate supreme passion around DLP so that your actions are driven and you’re not satisfied until we reach an appropriate level of maturity. Then immediately go back to being driven to make us the best in the world.
Be the buck stops here person. The entire DLP program rests on your knowledge, your ability to balance security with business operation, your capacity for viable ideas, your creativity to bring solutions where there were none, your ability to prioritize tasks and initiatives for you and the team so that the biggest risks, the most basic of expectations, are addressed first (make sure our foundation is rock solid before diving into the more exciting stuff, or at least do them in tandem).
6-8 years' overall technical experience in either reverse engineering/malware analysis, threat intelligence, incident response, security operations, or related information security field
6-8 years' experience in application design/engineering, including but not limited to programming/scripting, Windows/Linux system administration, relational database management system (RDBMS)/NoSQL database administration, etc.
B.S. Computer Science or equivalent experience
Subject matter expert in all facets of data loss prevention (DLP) technology
Subject matter expert in all facets of the Symantec suite of DLP products (legacy Vontu)
Masterful understanding of DLP capabilities, strategies, and principles
Understand all levels of use cases – from the basic to the innovative and know how to execute them with excellence
Exceptional thought leader who will drive innovation while never losing site of the basics
Exceptional track record as a team lead
Exceptional ability to execute and drive change
Experience rolling out and/or running a large scale DLP program (not a requirement if you consider yourself someone who could go head-to-head with anyone about DLP)
Strong drive to build a best in the world program
Strategic, creative, and innovative mind
Zero tolerance for operational, design, and strategy oriented gaps
Absolute self-starter who will take the lead and initiative to find and solution problems
Be able to communicate many examples of where you drove positive change
