Job Summary:

In this role you will perform HMDA Data quality control audits of all HMDA reportable loan applications. This includes residential mortgage loans, HELOCs, bulk loan purchases, assumptions, and commercial loans. You'll confirm data collected and reported aligns with reporting requirements.

Major Responsibilities:

  • You'll perform timely monthly audits of funded and non-funded loans selected for HMDA data QC review for accurate reporting according to the HMDA regulatory specification.

  • Review selected data fields for accuracy, errors, and omissions and work with businesses to remediate any documentation errors required for the audit.

  • You will audit loan data against supporting documentation for completeness and accuracy, keeping accurate record of corrected data, and identifying any root causes for data anomalies and issues.

  • Use your skills to collect, investigate, and review additional information as necessary to validate and report correct data.

  • Bring forth your analytical abilities to perform data audits according to established procedures and specific HMDA definitions and requirements.

  • Be accountable for conducting internal team quality control by reviewing first level QC auditor’s work, providing feedback and guidance on errors identified.

  • Are you able to work independently and meet audit goals with nominal errors?

  • Juggle special ad hoc audit requests and meet timeline requirements, while handling normal audit volume.

  • Apply your written skills to document concise findings in the QC database(s) to record the results of each data findings and audit the more complex commercial loan documents.

  • As a mentor, you will train new auditors and provide guidance to existing 1st level QC staff.

  • You will communicate audit findings and ensure findings are accurate and well-written.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Do you have 5 years of residential mortgage or consumer equity loan/line Quality Control auditing and/or underwriting experience?

  • Are you knowledgeable of the HMDA data reporting requirement and mortgage lending process (underwriting, processing, and closing)?

  • It is helpful if you have some commercial loan underwriting knowledge.

  • We want someone who looks at the fine details and has strong written communication skills, and can use computer systems effortlessly. Is that you?
