MUFG Growth & Middle Market Technology Banking is seeking a strong candidate to fulfill the role of Venture Capital Relationship Manager, Managing Director opportunity to be based in the San Francisco Bay Area (San Francisco or Menlo Park). The Relationship Manager will be responsible for building relationships with venture capital firms that invest in our target market of growth stage technology companies.
Responsibilities will include:
The maintenance and development of relationships with target venture capital firms and the broader investor community, Generating referrals to venture capital backed companies, Building MUFG’s brand in the venture-backed technology company market, Leadership and support of broader growth initiatives within MUFG’s Growth and Mid-Market Technology Banking business.
Principal Accountabilities: Key activities and decision making areas
The relationship manager role is accountable for the following key activities and decision-making areas:
Maintaining and developing a book of target Venture Capital Firm relationships.
Identification and development of business opportunities with venture capital backed portfolio companies, generally through providing introductions to RM execution teams.
Participating in and hosting events for investors and executives in our target market.
Providing general support and leadership for team projects. Providing general support and leadership for team projects.

Generate profitable relationships for the Growth & Mid-Market Technology Banking team.
Ensure connectivity to key constituents (investors, board members) so that we can better serve our clients from a holistic basis, in good markets and declining markets
Build brand awareness for MUFG in our target markets
Lead/support broader initiative aimed at growing MUFG’s share of the target markets
Clients / Stakeholders
Ensure all interactions with customers are of a high quality and conducted according to the highest professional standards
Ensure early identification of problem relationships and take action where there are potential and existing problem accounts to protect MUFG’s interests, and to ensure a communicative, authentic partnership with investors
Act as an ambassador for MUFG in the community and markets we serve
Operational Effectiveness & Control
Embody the Group's values and global standards in every aspect of how you operate as a MUFG banking professional
Exercise effective portfolio stewardship and control, ensuring adherence to all relevant Risk policies, Audit and Compliance standards
Adhere to structures and processes in place for the management of credit, operational, reputation and regulatory risk
Protect sensitive customer and bank information by ensuring documents, computers, files, and all confidential matters are appropriately handled as set forth by policy
Complete other responsibilities, as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor degree in business or equivalent work experience
A minimum of 15-20 years business experience with six or more years’ experience managing key business relationships
High impact individual contributor who is viewed as a peer by Venture Capital general partners / investing professionals.
A background including VC, investment banking, tech operating role, seasoned lender, or similar
Strong familiarity and network with the VC community and tech startup business environment
Familiarity with commercial banking products and services
Well-versed in technology and financing market trends
Team player who works well in cross-functional execution teams
Entrepreneurial mindset
Proven ability in identifying and meeting customer needs through matching a broad range of products and services
Work within a deal team environment to support the credit analysis and management of the Growth and Middle Market Credit Solutions business unit
The typical base pay range for this role is between $275K - $350K depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
