Job Summary:

Reporting to the Head of Branch Banking, you will be responsible for all aspects of the Retail Branch Network including the oversight, management, and strategic activities for the Northern California / Pacific Northwest Division.

Major Responsibilities :

Division Management

  • Lead Division with overall responsibility and accountability for sales performance, customer experience, and operational integrity.

  • You will drive a consultative sales approach.

  • You will actively assess the division's activity through frequent field office visits.

  • Provide mentorship to regional and branch managers.

  • You will thoughtfully set sales and service goals for each responsible region within your division.

  • You will hire the appropriate staff to support the goals assigned for branch banking roles.

  • You will handle the budget for the division.

  • You will collaborate with division operations ensuring policies and procedures compliance to mitigate risk and/or operating losses.

  • You will partner with enterprise marketing on the development and implementation of the appropriate marketing strategy.

  • In partnership with marketing, you will develop retail marketing plans to reach new customers and expand the services used by existing bank customers.

  • When needed, you will negotiate with major prospects and customers in order to develop business relations and grow the client base.

  • On an ongoing basis, represent Union Bank in the community and at not-for-profits.

  • You will directly supervise regional managers and perform the traditional supervisory functions including hiring, firing, counseling, and recommending promotions and merit increases

Partner Programs and Business Partners

  • Lead the implementation of various partner programs.

  • Gain agreement for all strategies and ensure successful implementation.

  • Provide leadership and mentorship to the Priority Banking Sales Strategists regarding the program, as well as collaborate with the Business Banking Regional Vice Presidents to assess appropriate changes to ensure the success of the program.

  • Routinely monitor all programs, policies, and practices.

  • Collaborate with key business partners (i.e. Business Banking, UBIS, Private Bank, etc.) to provide knowledge and support to all branches within their Division.

  • Through Regional Managers, encourage branch staff to become more acquainted with and knowledgeable of products.

Community Affairs

  • Lead other non-branch functions, including but not limited to Community Affairs.

  • Represent the Bank at civic and political functions.

  • Cultivate business and relationships with politicians and civic leaders.

  • Become involved with various organizations and participate in activities within the community to promote branding in the local market.

Qualifications

Key characteristics and strengths include:

  • Leadership and coaching skills

  • Track record of successful sales and sales-management

  • Sound operational and risk management knowledge

  • Highly developed interpersonal skills

  • Strong consumer, small business, and commercial lending skills

  • Extensive retail, high net-worth, and small business banking working experience

  • Strong staff management experience

  • Demonstrated successful sales experience and the ability to develop successful sales skills in others

  • Confirmed working experience in branch banking at a market president position level required

  • Deep understanding and experience in management, sales coaching, business development, and marketing strategy.

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
