Main purpose of the role :

  • The Associate, Loan Syndicate and Sales provides a critical support function for the broader team.

  • The tasks associated with the position will focus on supporting the distribution function in relation to syndicated loans for both primary and secondary transactions.

  • Work closely with the other Regional and Global teams in DCM, the GCIB coverage and sector bankers and relevant distribution teams covering both institutional as well as bank investors

  • Provide support to senior team leaders to develop a sustainable client focused primary debt origination business for MUFG clients

Key responsibilities:

Key duties will include (but limited to):

  • Supporting various elements of the primary distribution function, namely:

  • Forming liquidity analysis for prospective transactions and associated pitch books;

  • Preparing and writing underwriting papers and support memoranda;

  • Preparing various syndication materials (i.e. invitation letters, commitment letters, syndication strategies, Debt Domain, NDAs, etc);

  • Sounding and physical bookrunning of investors throughout the syndication/sell-down process; and

  • Assisting with transaction execution from mandate phase to financial close.

  • Having primary DCM coverage of both loan and institutional investors

  • Supporting the sale of secondary loan assets including opining on the saleability of assets, identifying suitable investors and managing execution of the sale

  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with Oceania based investors.

  • Regular engagement with MUFG clients as well as internal stakeholders such as relationship managers and other Distribution professionals across MUFG’s global platform.

  • Provide loan market intelligence to clients and internal stakeholders.

  • Maintaining investor and pricing databases.

  • Completion of any necessary business reporting requirements in a timely and accurate manner.

Skills and experience:

  • Ideally 5+ years experience in in a Syndications, Debt Capital Markets or a Coverage role at an Australian Major or a large financial institution operating in an international context would be preferred

  • Degree level education – Undergraduate Degree from a leading university. CFA, Masters Degree positively received

  • Detailed / advanced knowledge of global capital markets products and investors
