About the role:

In your role as Vice President, Strategic Planning your purpose will be to work and partner with the Asia Systems Office Oceania (ASOO) management and regional Asia Systems Office (ASO) leadership to lead the Systems Planning team and act as the Technology Information Security Officer (TISO) for Oceania.

Responsible for overseeing the Systems Planning team to ensure oversight of the local implementation responsibilities for Global and Regional initiatives being deployed in Oceania and for Locally initiated projects. As the TISO for Oceania, advocating for and providing more focus in the uplifting of Cybersecurity maturity and IT risk management at the Branch level.

What you’ll be doing:


  • Contribute and support the short, medium and long term goals of the ASOO strategy that aligns to the Bank’s global and regional direction/vision, operating plans, and mid-term business plan (MTBP)

  • Programme manage all IT related projects for Oceania to ensure that project tasks for Global and Regional projects are completed within timeframes and for local projects to be delivered on time and within budget

  • Provide advice and guidance to Branch leadership on the key IT security risk and controls for strategic priorities


  • Monitor and manage to the budget assigned to ASOO and oversee all IT projects within the country to ensure they are implemented on-time and within budget

  • Support the enhance cost competitiveness and return of IT investments, aligning with global and regional strategy to improve cost efficiencies such as through close management of procurement and vendor contracts


  • Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders on IT Systems Planning related topics

  • Contribute to building a culture of IT professionals focused on deep business alignment, accountability for outcomes and continuous improvement

  • Ensure an appropriate framework in place to monitor and govern IT vendors and suppliers to ensure expected level of services and performance are met

  • Act as ambassador for Systems team to internal and external parties including but not limited to local regulator, auditors and regional systems team

  • Responsible for managing (objective setting & performance management), developing (coaching, career progression & training) and rewarding (financial and non-financial reward decisions) the Systems planning team

  • Act as a role model to team members and adhere to all company policies/ guidelines


  • Act as primary contact for ASO in handling all regional requests for information as well as ad-hoc and regular reporting for Region

  • Ensure ASOO policies and procedures are maintained and comply with the annual review process

Technology Information Security Officer (TISO)

  • Localise and implement security standards and procedures adapting to local business and regulatory needs

  • Promote and advocate IT security awareness in the local branch

  • Work with local stakeholders on local IT security requirements, risk assessments and compliance with local IT related regulations

What we are looking for:

  • 7+ years working in IT or related work experience

  • Experience working in a similar role from within banking or financial services

  • Proven record of successful IT programme management

  • Thorough understanding of relevant regulations or Australia and New Zealand, such as APRA CPS234

  • Experience in managing audits and requests from internal and external auditors

  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills

  • Excellent leadership including managing and mentoring a developing team

  • Collaborates and builds partnerships

  • Control and oversight of a department budget

  • Strong knowledge of project management principles
