This is a hybrid position. The selected colleague will work at an MUFG office or client sites up to four days per week and work remotely the remaining day(s). A member of our Talent Acquisition team will provide more details.
The Internal QC Analyst Role is part of the ICU (Operations Internal Control Unit) within the Operations division. This role purpose is to equip into the Operations with a dedicated control function which will enable Operations to meet internal and external (including regulatory) obligations. This role will be dedicated to risk & control oversight and execute the central control assurance function by driving the control agenda, sponsoring control themes across pillars, delivering control risk reporting, owning control framework.
This role is to act as an independent control function ensuring first/ Second and Third line effective control oversight of the Operations Internal Control Unit; which is a vital role to ensure the completeness & accuracy of MUFG America’s operational data and processes. activities through pre-emptive monitoring and continuous risk assessment. Focus of this hire will be to have good knowledge and oversight to be able to provide Operational Control Oversight for key KRI’s and KPI’s for Operations Internal Control Unit – have a good understanding of the various controls include general ledger reconciliations, WIP Account reconciliations, Suspense Account reconciliations; reviewing, providing, correcting, and coding data; conducting root cause analysis and remediation; resolving rejected entries and suspended items; updating financial transaction records; reconciling settlements and adjustment entries; remediating fund-processing errors; certifying asset and liability general ledger accounts.
Processing areas coverage:
Individuals in the Account Reconciliation & Controls job function (Banking Operations Processing) focus on data input and output, general ledgers, and identification and remediation of discrepancies.
Responsibilities include balancing account statements; reviewing, providing, correcting, and coding data; calculating and validating batch totals; conducting root cause analysis and remediation; resolving rejected entries and suspended items; updating financial transaction records, such as accounts receivable, disbursements, expense vouchers, payroll, receipts, and accounts payable; reconciling settlements and adjustment entries; remediating fund-processing errors; certifying asset and liability general ledger accounts; reconciling outstanding account balances; and supporting vendor quality control; conducting daily, monthly and quarterly certification of general ledger balances; monitoring and reporting on exceptions; and distributing exceptions to operations processing teams.
Commercial and Syndicated Loan, Cash Management, Capital Markets, Trade and/or another Middle- or Back-Office operational functional area is a must.
Operational Risk & Control.
Partner closely with Business Partners and Units to meet deliverables.
Manage and monitor the performance of multiple programs of work and collaborate with the ICU to ensure program scope is aligned with target state to reduce risk and close identified gaps
Provide consistent monitoring, escalation and diligent check and challenge from conception to closure of critical milestones
Offer on-the-ground support to the ICU to help execute, direct and coordinate day-to-day activities of running the portfolio of transformation programs
Manage and prioritize projects based on business needs and identify opportunities to improve efficiencies and drive continuous improvement
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Establishment and maintenance of the control framework which are required to mitigate against operational failure within the product channel.
Determination of all controls
Mapping of all controls to key controls
Determination of business risks and mapping of key controls required to mitigate those risks
Assessment of control (design and operating) effectiveness and remediation of controls that are in-effective
Appropriate calibration, measurement and reporting of control status
Periodic (mostly daily) execution of controls
Supporting the product channel to demonstrate / evidence that it is “ in control ” through:
Preparing the RAF (Risk Assessment Framework) for the Product Channel and discussing / agreeing content with the department head
Attesting to key controls on a periodic basis
Establishment, measurement, monitoring and reporting of key risk and performance indicators for the product channel
Maintenance of the department’s RCSA (Risk Control Self-Assessment)
Maintenance of the SII (Self- Identified Issues)
Maintenance meetings within the unit
Management and resolution of queries relating to control gaps / failures within the unit
Control Assurance Testing
Execution of self-inspections (inspection and countermeasure)
Execution of SOx testing (testing and countermeasure)
Execution of the RSCA controls testing.
Incident Management
Operational incident management
Management of Information leakages (Flash report, Core report, incident log and countermeasure)
Recording and tracking analysis near-misses
Root cause analysis, identification and remediation of core trends / themes
Management of Audit Profile
Review of open audit issues and MAP (Management Action Plans) from internal and external audit reports
Progress closure of open points by supporting product channel in completion of actions
Reporting and escalation of outstanding issues
Procedure and Policy Management
Unit procedure update / review
Exception handling request application
Execution of Internal control activities
EUC system
Support product channel in their review (and closure) of dormant accounts, staff movement and authorized signatories etc.
Internal control liaison
- Facilitate (and sometimes chair) periodic and ad-hoc control discussions meetings with colleagues within the members to ensure control gaps are identified and closed out timeously and that there is appropriate communication and escalation within the product channel and into the central Control Assurance team.
QUALIFICATIONS
1-3 years of hands-on experience using IntelliMatch as a reconciliation tool, and 1-3 years of audit experience.

Ensure all stakeholders are identified and included in scope definition activities, and communication of execution timeline and key milestones. This includes the ability to effectively work internal audit and compliance independent validation to confirm a common understanding of the artifacts and deliverables need to support related testing and validation activities
Facilitate cross program engagement and issue resolution
Monitor and track execution of Operations Internal Control Unit controls and escalate program risks impacting project delivery to the Operations Internal Control Unit management team and appropriate stakeholders; ensure mitigation strategies are developed and executed when necessary
Identify and drive resolution of issues, including those outside established projects of work
Collaborate on reviews of each program’s defined scope, target state, and success criteria to ensure it fully addresses the letter and the spirit of the regulatory feedback, broader supervisory expectations and underlying issues and root causes, and is embedded in a broader strategic vision
This role focused on: planning/scoping review; advisory support; IA engagement; review of change controls, RAG ratings /status reports; risks and issues; metrics; participating in Governance forums; supporting RCSA reviews and overall overseeing the QC and gap level of the regulatory hierarchy.

The typical base pay range for this role is between $65K - $80K depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
