Job Summary :

Reporting to the Customer and Transaction Screening Unit (CTS) Team Lead, responsible for performing review adverse media and other name screening functions for Low, Moderate and High-Risk individuals and entities to ensure compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and the US Patriot Act. Ensure ongoing reviews of assigned portfolio are conducted according to Bank policy. May work with line officers and line management to obtain necessary information. Direct responsibility for quality and integrity of research and analysis completed and documented via Know Your Customer forms or within various databases. Identify emerging risk issues and recommend course of action in most events, with direct oversight from manager or higher-level Specialist. Position requires a level of experience needed to effectively interact with customer relationships. Reviews may include increasing complex investigations. This position is typically expected to work a greater number of reviews, with direct management oversight.

Major Responsibilities:

  • 70% conduct and document review of adverse media and other name screening functions. Review customer accounts for appropriate risk, analyze risk, identify issues, and validate information from bank systems and against third party resources to disposition alerts. Ensure ongoing record keeping and preparation of reporting to management is kept current. Complete alerts or monitoring assignments within CTS timeframes and in accordance with unit quality standards for completion and documentation.

  • 20% Maintain effective working relationships with line of business to obtain and validate client data.

  • 10% CTS department support.



  • Bachelor degree and/or equivalent relevant experience.

  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years in banking, with a strong emphasis on BSA, AML and OFAC laws and regulations.

  • Must have prior experience with reviewing and working alerts, preferably in the financial intelligence unit of financial institution.

  • CAMS certification preferred but not required.

  • Experience in analyzing or managing financial crime investigative processes Experience interacting with senior managers and compliance subject matter experts.

  • Collaborative with strong interpersonal communication skills.

  • Process oriented coupled with a strong ability to develop appropriate program enhancing strategies.

  • Detail-oriented and organized execution.
