Analyst is expected to provide end user support for multiple risk applications (global and regional). This position requires taking necessary steps to perform issue investigation, analysis and bring resolution to complex access; data and system functional problems. For the global risk system, the analyst is expected to perform monthly data quality monitoring; ad hoc reporting along with necessary communication. Analyst is also required to work independently, be resourceful and work with team(s) across different geographical locations and departments.
Support user inquiries on missing data, incorrect data, application source information, data reflection time, access management and application function related inquiries
Perform initial investigation of data inquiries.
Identify and prioritize issues
Use SQL and other technical skills to investigate the possible cause using large data set
Communicate the findings to Head office, technology and management
Provide / suggest possible solution(s)
Take necessary steps to ensure issue is resolved in production environment
Keep all parties well informed at all times
Interface and Liaise with Line of Business (LOB), Technology, HR, Head Office - Japan, etc for data inquiries and necessary communication
Provide end user training on an ad hoc basis (for global application only).
Consult with users and vendors for needs assessment on ad hoc basis.
Take in charge of Data Quality Monitoring task
Create, maintain and adhere to Bank and departmental policies and procedures
Conduct data and issue analysis using various tools: Business Objects, Access, and Excel. Must document and communicate results, conclusion, opinion or suggestions as required.
Generate ad hoc reports using various tools and technical skills.
Co-ordinate/liaise amongst various stake holders (Business, Head office, Technology and Risk) for issues investigation, resolution and communication.
Support for change events with minimal duration and scope (e.g. policy changes, maintenance requests, logic change). Following is expected:
Review business requirements for completeness and accuracy
Work with technology to ensure accurate understanding of required changes.
Participate in UAT (when necessary) and regression testing
Track changes and provide updates to management
Support production implementation (production checkout)
Support management on ad-hoc request and initiatives as needed.
Minimum 2-3 years of experience working as a business or a data analyst in a large bank
Excellent business and data analytical skills
Past experience using Business Objects, Microsoft Office applications (Access and Excel) and Database Query Tools (e.g. Toad, etc.)
Must have a good understanding of Banking products (loans, fx, derivatives)
Strong organizational skills and ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal)
Ability to multi-task and work under pressure with minimal supervision
Basic understanding of data modeling, data analytics, and system design and development lifecycle
Experience or background in SQL, and advance reporting is a plus
Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree is a plus.
