Cloud Operations Engineering & Technical Lead

Job Summary:

Within an Agile methodology, able to plan tactical and strategic EPICs and Sprints, jointly with the Product Owner of Operations Engineering, to lead Sprint Goals across the Operations Engineering Teams (combination of dedicated operational capability SME’s and actual process owner groups). These goals are usually set by new AWS services or operating landscape improvements, introduced by the AWS Infrastructure and/or Security Engineering teams and require to be “Operationalized” by the Operations Engineering team. The Operations Engineering Technical Lead would also play a key role in the operational procedures, standards and guidelines surrounding key IT Service Management disciplines within the MUFG AWS landscape, including:

  • Release & Deployment Management

  • AWS Resource Provisioning & Service Catalog

  • OS Patching and Configuration Management

  • Event Management, Monitoring & Logging

  • Backup/Restore & Disaster Recovery Provisions

Responsibilities:

To support Low/Moderate Risk Application migrations to the AWS Cloud, MUFG has integrated well defined tools and processes found within their on-premise Data Centers (i.e. SCCM for Patch Management, TFS/Jenkins/Puppet for Release & Deployment, etc.). As our cloud maturity evolves, we are looking for this candidate to assist with Changing the Thinking” to more of an AWS native set of process and procedures as we move toward High Risk Application migration planning. Again, working hand in hand with our AWS Engineering teams, develop and deploy sound operational support areas of:

  • Application Release Testing and Promotion along with Infrastructure as Code” Disciplines

  • AWS Resource Provisioning integration with AWS Service Catalog and Service Now

  • Configuration & Event Management for Auto-Scaling, API Gateway and other key Services

  • Design High Availability and Disaster Recovery capabilities across multiple AZ’s and Regions

Qualifications

  • Experience communicating cross-functionally and across management levels

  • Project management skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Engineering related fields or equivalent work experience

  • Experience managing teams in a high-pressure IT environment

  • Proven skills in leadership development and team building

  • Proven ability to manage complex tasks

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audience
