Core Banking Transformation - FIS Platform Technology Senior Engineer
Reporting to a Senior Manager for Integrated Services of the Americas Business IT (ISA BIT) Technology Transformation, MUFG, Union Bank, N.A. (MUB) seeks candidates as part of its ISA BIT Technology Transformation division specifically within the systems integration workstream of the Core Banking Transformation (CBT) Project at MUB.
The successful candidate will be responsible to support the systems integrations and application developments activities associated with the CBT project, working collaboratively with functional, technical and business teams, external vendor partners to achieve project objectives, achievements and deliverables while ensuring the implementation of high-quality solutions that support CBT project goals and objectives.
Directly supervises software engineers and systems analysts engaged in designing, developing, coding, maintaining and modifying application programs. Directs, controls and monitors project progress. Performs project group administration and staff appraisals, counseling, interviews with potential candidates and terminating staff members as needed. Provides advice and / or technical assistance to users on a detailed level.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT DEVELOPMENT AND MAINTENANCE - Supervises Software Engineer / Analysts engaged in designing, developing, coding, maintaining and modifying application programs for a limited area or small number of projects. Ensures application systems are reliable and that data files maintain data integrity; application failures and / or data inconsistencies are corrected in an expedient manner; departmental programming standards are maintained for all products placed into production; compliance with data security and auditing requirements of applications responsible.
USER SUPPORT - Assists users by recognizing their needs and creating the necessary work order to meet these needs. Provides advice and / or technical assistance to internal customers in performing data processing functions, i.e., feasibility studies, detailed requirements, application system design, processing problems, etc. on a detailed basis. Ensures that the appropriate user documentation is provided.
PROJECT CONTROL - Reviews requirements and objectives of projects determines priorities and staffing requirements and schedules, delegates and coordinates the work of subordinates. Defines, drafts and distributes project plans, directs and controls project progress and reviews completed work to ensure that programs adhere to corporate policies, practices and programming quality standards. Monitors project progress to ensure necessary resources have been allocated and to ensure that projects will be delivered in a timely manner. Implements programs into the production environment and monitors program performance. Evaluates system after it has been put into use to ensure that user needs have been met and that the system is fulfilling the originally defined requirements at a satisfactory level.
ADMINISTRATION - Performs project group administration using the Division's administrative products and procedures. Prepares activity and status reports for management for all project activities; aids in the preparation of cost / benefit analysis report, audit responses, special project reports and project implementation reports.
ORGANIZATION - Determines the most effective responsibilities for their software engineer / analysts and assigns work based on this structure and on available resources and commitments.
STAFF DEVELOPMENT - Performs standard personnel administration in accordance with Bank guidelines. This includes evaluating employee performance, preparing appraisals, conducting evaluation and counseling sessions, conducting interviews, recommending new hires or terminating staff members as needed. Works with their immediate group to determine their education and training needs. Provides information on programs available to help meet those needs. May be required to assist in the evaluation and selection of vendor training and education programs, the development of in-house training programs and evaluation of training programs effectiveness. Responsible for ensuring staff comply with all wage and hour regulations. This includes reviewing employee timecards for accuracy and ensuring all meal and rest breaks are adhered to.
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent professional experience
Minimum of 8 years of experience in programming/systems analysis.
3-5 years of meaningful experience with emphasis in applications and systems engineering development, database and middleware technologies, API development and DevOps, applications development functions, and preferably, at least 1-year experience as Systems Project Lead
Comprehensive knowledge of data integration technologies
Experience in software development, testing, implementation and maintenance with focus on systems integration projects
Leading team of staff
Familiar with DevOps toolchain, i.e. BitBucket, JIRA, Jenkins Pipeline, Artifactory or Nexus, and experienced in automate and deploy n-tier application stack in cloud native environments
Demonstrate good understanding of modern, cloud-native application models and patterns
Strong collaboration skills and a passion for problem solving, with the ability to work alternative coverage schedules
Comfort with ambiguity; the ability to find the correct path given limited guidance
Experience integrating Products and/or services provided by FIS (Desirable)
