MUFG’s Loan Operations team services several lines of business within MUFG for the Americas. The Middle Office team was designed in support of our business partners and aligned to six Execution Team Leads. The teams include; US Wholesale/Corp. Credit, Investment Banking, Japanese Corp. Banking, Latin American Corp Banking, Regional Banking, and Governance.
The Loan Administration Process Owner is primarily responsible for Management of the Execution Teams that perform daily Middle Office responsibilities in support of the Corporate Bank’s lines of business. In addition, they are the central lead and escalation point for each Business area. The Execution Team’s operate in a Deal Closing capacity and are in close contact with the Relationship and Portfolio Managers throughout the closing process; ensuring all required documents, reference data, and critical information are reviewed for operational feasibility, optimal execution mechanics, regulatory requirements and mitigation of operational risk. The teams partner with various internal and external parties including, but not limited to, Leveraged Capital Markets, Portfolio/Relationship Management, Loan and Agency Services, Finance, Legal, Trade Counterparties, as well as external Agent Banks and Lender clients. The team also interacts with their counterparts in other Regions and Legal Entities throughout MUFG’s robust network of Operations areas.
Lead six Execution Teams in Wholesale/Investment Banking Middle Office with 40 FTE in multiple geographical locations
Responsible and accountable for managing Loan Administrators and the Deal Closing & Funding process
Report directly into Operations, with dotted line matrix reporting into the Center of Excellence (COE) Leader(s)
Establish and document Service Level Agreements with each line of business supported to include KRIs
Actively pursue expansion of services provided to lines of business in the SLAs
Support escalations from the COE Business leads, as required
Actively lead strategic initiatives and process changes for the Middle Office
Create and maintain enhanced Business Metrics to validate Capacity and Unit Cost on a monthly basis
Maintain customer focus while balancing speed with quality
Develop talent and create a continuous improvement culture
Drive standardization and process maturity enhancement in the Middle Office, using Firm resources to simplify and or automate the process
Ensure execution of best practices of control, risk mitigation and escalation throughout the Execution Teams
Manage a Governance Team, which includes 2-3 FTE
Ensure the Governance Team regularly reviews and enhances policies and procedures to maintain appropriate control and consistency, within Head Office guidelines and Bank regulations
Ensure the Governance Team schedules and conducts quarterly MBR meetings with COE Business Leads
Maintain an in-depth, working knowledge of Banking Regulations and Standard Practices
Ensures adherence to all Firm policies and procedures and all applicable banking regulations
Undergraduate degree or higher
10-15 years of syndicated loan experience
7 years of people management experience
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher
Robust understanding of loan products / syndicated loan business, including in-depth knowledge of credit agreements and other credit documentation, loan funding mechanics, deal structure, etc.
Proven ability to collaborate and build relationships with senior leaders across and within the lines of business
Keen attention to detail, strong oral and written communication skills, and strong analytical capability
Ability to lead multiple teams in a challenging and rapidly changing environment with capability to drive process change, with focus on standardization and simplification
Critical decision-making abilities including the ability to identify and resolve complex issues in a Corporate Banking environment
