Reporting to the Global Head of Financial Crimes Innovation, this new position has been created for the purpose of establishing a Global Financial Crimes Division (GFCD) Operations ' component to lead the bank 's innovation efforts.
This position will be responsible for executing the Financial Crimes playbook, including ensuring a globally consistent and continuously innovative approach that engages the bank 's stake holders, financial crimes technology companies, and other related industries is followed.
Identify emerging and other innovative technology solutions in order to continually improve functional, reporting, intelligence, and analytics capabilities.
Serve as initial point of contact with MUFG Technology groups to establish trial environments (i.e., sandbox or production environments), including estimating internal and external costs associated with environment set up (e.g., hardware, software, storage, license, etc.) and working with architecture teams to identify optimum technical stacks for both innovation trials and production implementation.
Responsible for being a technical expert, innovator, and strategic thought leader for technology engineering discipline such as applications, micro-services, network, information security, database, operating systems, or web technologies.
Knowledge and experience applying key technology advancements such as Cloud & Big Data, Graph Technology, and/or AI/Machine Learning.
Monitor areas of innovation in the banking industry for proactive financial crime risk identification and ascertain suitability for implementation within MUFG, including applying knowledge and experience of technology advancements such as Cloud and Big Data, Artificial Intelligence (e.g., machine learning, link analysis, graph analytics, NLP, OCR).
Perform continuous evaluation of available solutions that are active in the marketplace or financial space.
Serve as the initial point of contact for vendors soliciting business with the Technology Division.
Translate advanced technology experience, the enterprise technological environment, and strategic technological opportunities and requirements into technical engineering solutions.
Develop, maintain, and report on evaluative processes to bank management.
Engage other members of the Financial Industry (FI) through the 314 process to coordinate innovation across the industry.
Manage the tactical and strategic goals of various innovative initiatives, which include interactive support to and collaboration with the other areas of GFCD.
Correlate internal needs with external availability for relevant use.
Assist in the creation of business requirements documents and other reporting documents where necessary.
Apply data science principles and/or business process re-engineering principles to help identify innovative solutions in the key Financial Crimes areas of transaction monitoring, investigations, screening, KYC, and analytics.
Work collaboratively across functional teams within GFCD to ensure effective and efficient operations with clearly defined roles and responsibilities.
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Analytics or other related field. Master 's Degree preferred.
A combination totaling 5-10 years of Risk/Financial Crimes technology, analytics, and audit experience relating to financial crimes systems.
In depth knowledge of financial crimes systems including KYC, Sanctions, Transaction Monitoring, and Analytics.
Experience interacting with different internal Technology groups to ensure successful set up of trial environments, including estimating costs of environment set up.
Knowledge of data science principles (e.g., statistics, descriptive and predictive analytics), database structures, back-end functions, and data environments (such as Enterprise Data Warehouses).
Experience interacting with the Executive Committee Leadership, control function leadership, and compliance subject matter experts.
Experience interacting with outside vendors.

Ability to work autonomously and initiate and prioritize own work
Ability to work with teams of project managers
Solid judgment, strong negotiating skills, and a practical approach to implementation including knowledge of Bank systems
Ability to balance regulatory requirements with the best interests of the Bank and its customers
