Senior Linux/Unix Systems Engineering

Job Summary

The Linux Computer Engineering Team is looking for a Senior Engineer to join us in Tempe Az. In this position, you will play a key role in a team responsible for our Linux/Unix infrastructure, with a focus on keeping the engineering solutions to maintain availability and security, as well as handling the day-to-day availability of all Unix/Linux services at the Bank. The role will be involved in our Configuration Management and orchestration tools, including Red Hat Ansible. Role will participate in general Senior level Engineering for services in AWS and with Red Hat Openshift.

You’ll be responsible for engineering solutions for operations to handle problem detection and automated recovery scenarios, incident management, and understanding complicated, interconnected data points to determine when issues arise. You will also be expected to partially serve as a developer and meaningfully contribute to the Infrastructure as Code. We'll need you to be able to work in a complicated and fast-paced environment, while quickly learning new skills and creating ways to consistently meet service level agreements and keep the local data centers and cloud-based service running for our customers.

Responsibilities

  • Engineer solutions using Linux/Unix infrastructure

  • Maintain and support large Linux/Unix installation

  • Engineer solutions using Ansible Tower

  • Maintain and support large Ansible Tower environment

  • Develop solutions for our business units and developers using AWS Services

  • Perform software updates, testing, and Common Vulnerabilities and Security Exposures (CVE) analysis

  • Build and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for Operations teams

  • Look for opportunities that would help us improve how we deliver a hosted offering to our customers

  • Write automation scripts to auto-correct or completely prevent issues in our Linux/Unix environments

  • Resolve customer issues intensified from Operations Support team

  • Track and review changes in a highly dynamic environment

  • Identify single points of failure and other high-risk architecture issues and propose more resilient resolutions

  • Perform and coordinate releases to ensure proper life cycle and policies are followed

Qualifications

  • 7 years experience with Red Hat Linux Operating system administration

  • 3 years experience with AWS cloud platform and services

  • Experience with Red Hat Ansible Tower

  • Experience with virtualization platforms like VMware or Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization

  • Experience with Git or other revision control system

  • Basic knowledge of monitoring systems

  • Demonstrated ability to quickly and accurately solve issues

  • Solid grasp of standard TCP/IP networking and common protocols like DNS and HTTP

  • Strong organizational skills are a must

  • Must be able to quickly identify network or infrastructure related problems and manage the remediation/escalation

  • Facilitate resolution of issues and be the point of contact to provide documentation needed for problem analysis and recovery

  • Financial Institute or Banking experience

  • Experience with Red Hat Openshift and/or other container platforms

  • Certifications related to Red Hat, Openshift, Ansible, AWS suggested

  • Experience with AIX and Solaris Operating system administration

  • Experience with additional cloud platform like Google Cloud or Azure

  • Sound knowledge on RHEL Patching and leading Red Hat Satellite server

  • Experience with Puppet or other configuration management and automation tools

  • Experience with object-oriented programming in at least one dynamic language; Python is a plus
