Job Summary:

As part of the MUFG Union Bank (MUB) First Line of Defense Control Office (FLoD CO) team, the KYC Specialist improves the quality of Know Your Customer (KYC) data throughout the customer life cycle as prescribed by BSA/AML Program Office and Chief Data Office policies pertaining to the Customer Identification Program (CIP), Customer Due Diligence (CDD) business verification, and other regulatory and risk considerations. This role provides support exclusively to supported Business Units; that is, this role has no direct contact with the bank’s external customers.

Shift:

8:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M. Pacific Time

Major Responsibilities:

  • Validate customer key data elements (KDEs), remediating errors as necessary, for customers managed by a supported Business Unit.

  • Coordinate with Business Units to ensure all required customer information and supporting documentation is captured and validated prior to account-opening.

  • Review legal documentation to identify Bank Contracting Officers for deposit products.

  • Capture and analyze metrics data pertaining to various onshore and offshore processes.

  • Stay abreast of shifting regulatory requirements that may impact day-to-day operations.

  • Maintain expert-level familiarity with bank policies that influence desktop procedures.

  • Ensure the continued relevancy of desktop procedures by recommending, documenting, and implementing approved changes.

  • Perform other duties and assist with projects as assigned by management from time to time.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate possesses most, if not all, of the following qualities:

  • REQUIRED: At least one year of prior banking experience in the BSA/AML space; KYC, investigation into fraud or financial crime, transaction monitoring, enhanced due diligence, etc.

  • General knowledge of regulations pertaining to products and services the company offers to its commercial loan, trade, and deposit customers is a plus.

  • Ability to balance risk with opportunity, collaborate and build partnerships, communicate effectively and professionally, and drive for results.

  • Quick-learner; easily adapts to unfamiliar platforms and procedures in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong PC skills, especially Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook and Excel. Knowledge of Teams, Power Point, and Visio is a plus.

  • Familiarity with legal formation and similar legal documents.

  • Earned or imminent baccalaureate degree; preferably in a subject within in the sciences.
