Job Summary:

Reporting to the Controls Assurance & Advisory (CAA) Manager, this position is responsible for assessing the internal control environment for financial and regulatory reporting and identifying risk mitigation activities to ensure compliance with bank polices and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements. Responsible for updating control documentation, coordinating and executing controls testing, monitoring deficiency remediation, and supporting bank initiatives and projects aimed to enhance the internal control environment.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Implement project plans to coordinate and execute control testing

  • Collaborate with business unit partners to perform walkthroughs of bank processes, identify key controls that mitigate financial statement assertions, and develop process flows and system diagrams. Control documentation includes controlling descriptions, process flowcharts depicting controls and systems in scope, testing attributes to evaluate effectiveness and design of controls, process narratives, and policies and procedures. Controls may include End User Computing (EUC) controls, IT general controls, and SSAE18 reports

  • Develop and document test attributes that demonstrate controls are operating as designed

  • Document control deficiencies and communicate exceptions

  • Execution of test plans in compliance with CAA control testing policy, including ensuring work papers meet documentation guidelines

  • Participation in key bank initiatives and projects aimed to enhance the internal control environment

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

  • 3 years of experience in a combination of public accounting and/or internal audit with a strong background in financial services

  • You have direct work experience in SOX compliance and internal controls

  • Professional certification such as CPA, CISA, or CIA

  • You possess a deep understanding of accounting, finance, and auditing concepts and standards

  • You have strong analytical and critical thinking skills to assess risk and control in business processes

  • You own tasks, are flexible with changing priorities, and work well under pressure to meet deadlines

  • You have excellent interpersonal skills and find solutions quickly

  • Proficient in Excel, Visio, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and SharePoint

  • Working knowledge of OpenPages, PeopleSoft, and Hyperion is desired
