The Strategic Sourcing Manager is responsible for partnering with internal stakeholders to successfully launch RFPs, negotiations, and SOW/delivery of HR, Legal, Marketing, Market Data, Bank Operations & Shared Services . Key responsibilities include (1) Partnering with the Procurement Intake Team to download key business requirements “Service Requests” that will become Sourcing Projects (2) Leading the successful execution of those sourcing projects to drive cost savings/avoidance, best value, and facilitate in the completion of MSA/Amendments/SOWs/Order Forms while maintaining competitive leverage with the Supplier throughout the process.
In support of this work, this position is also responsible for building sustained value-based relationships with stakeholders and suppliers, providing subject matter expertise, strategic guidance, and leadership in contract negotiations to achieve defined business objectives. Develop, instill and demonstrate sustained performance of management/reporting, risk/compliance, issue/escalation, and continuous improvement routines are critical for success in this role.
Strategic Sourcing Strategy Development & Execution:
Expert and co-developer of a comprehensive strategic sourcing strategy for various contracts/suppliers in alignment with defined business objectives
Lead the end-to-end sourcing process and facilitate analysis and collaboration of a cross-functional team, leveraging market/industry insights to make strategic recommendations
Develop negotiation strategy and lead negotiations to maximize total value and minimize risk
Achieve cost savings, avoidance, working capital improvements as a result of negotiations
RFx/Contract management utilizing Ariba
Lead and execute on strategy to deliver maximum value (Annual Objectives & Key Results)
Understand business partner’s objectives and business drivers and integrate into the Sourcing Strategy with input from key stakeholders
Stakeholder / Supplier Relationship Management & Integration:
Build and maintain value-measured relationships with key stakeholders to drive sustained results while ensuring strategies remain in alignment with business goals
Conduct regular business reviews with key suppliers to ensure compliance with contract deliverables
Market Research & Analysis:
Provide full and accurate category “market intelligence” by leading and performing in-depth analysis, understanding market drivers, and cost structures across the category level
Maintain industry and market awareness trends through research and networking
Create commodity or supplier specific sourcing strategies to optimize the supply base, diversity spending and total cost of ownership
Bachelor’s Degree and typically 10 plus years of relevant experience
HR, Legal, Marketing, Market Data, other Bank Shared Services related sourcing/contracting experience strongly preferred
MBA or advanced degree in related discipline preferred
Ability to ‘Own & Execute’, Team Player, Strong leadership, management, planning, organizational, analytical, and continuous improvement skills
Ability to provide coaching and mentoring to other sourcing managers within the organization
Interaction with Executive Committee members of the company
Experience influencing cross-functional leaders in a large organization, some of whom may have different priorities and goals
Proven ability to produce results that impact a broad portfolio of spend or change across the organization
Strong business acumen, ability to provide strategic vision, tactical planning, sound judgment, prudent recommendations, balance risks, solve complex issues, overcome obstacles and challenging circumstances, results oriented, negotiate win-win, and produce positive decisions and outcomes
Additional Knowledge, Skills &Abilities
Specialized knowledge and experience advising business line management as to how best to leverage supply chains to optimize cost and mitigate risk with overall continuous improvement
Solid understanding of indirect sourcing and category management methodology and ability to drive value for customers
Strong strategic supplier sourcing background with extensive experience in RFx/Reverse Auction development and execution
Experience in leading cross-functional teams in the end-to-end execution of sourcing initiatives
Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
Strong business negotiation skills
Experience influencing others to embrace Sourcing and Category Management best practices
Strong analytical and financial skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Power Point, Microsoft Project and Excel
Experience in using E-Sourcing tools and sourcing events (Ariba)
Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
Skilled in change adoption, change management and resource assessment
