Job Responsibilities:

Purpose of the Role

The Strategic Planning team partners with the Global Head of Subsidiary Banking and different global and regional coverage and product offices to design and drive the Global Strategy. We are looking for a high performing candidate to work in the Strategic Planning team with senior management to drive the growth of the Global Subsidiary Banking business.

Primary Responsibilities

Strategy

  • Lead development of the strategic plan/framework for the GSB organization, taking a big-picture view of how the financial industry is changing, structuring ambiguous problems, and conducting competitor analysis to develop a perspective on our target operating model

  • Ensure that the Steering Committees have a clear execution plan/ timeline that drive the desired outcomes; post meeting minutes and action items that need to be delivered

  • Drive strategic initiatives globally that simplify, digitalize and streamline delivery of the MUFG platforms

  • Conduct problem solving, including developing and testing hypothesis, qualitative and quantitative data gathering and analysis, driving feasible solutions

  • Responsible for engagement with the GCIBPD in Tokyo and working closely with the Global office to execute priorities

Stakeholder Management

  • Influence all relevant local and regional stakeholders to deliver the MUFG network for our Global relationships, by shaping the MUFG transformation from an international to a global bank.

  • Within a fast evolving global and market competitive landscape, differentiate MUFG’s positioning and proposition and relay the same to all stakeholders to drive growth for the Global GSB business.

  • Maintain close collaboration with the Product Offices and Credit division to ensure the priorities are aligned to drive a common outcome

Financial

  • Create the Financial Budget for the GSB organization (including Mid-Term Business Plans and Growth Initiatives)

  • Take full ownership of Business Performance reporting, by working closely with the Financial Planning department

  • Ensure any issues are addressed in a timely manner, with a clear focus on sharing & tracking monthly GSB performance

  • Monitor the concentration & portfolio risks to minimize any adverse impact to the financial performance of the GSB franchise

  • Deliver the ROE for the Global GSB business, by deploying capital that generates the best returns

Senior Management Communications

  • Create senior management presentations to communicate the results of the Global GSB franchise

  • Visualize data into easy-to-read graphs and create slides that tell a story to enable efficient executive-level consumption

  • Represent GSB at Senior Management forums, by being the lead spokesperson for the MUFG Network.

People

  • Lead from the front and define the culture of the GSB organization.

  • Hire the Best talent by sourcing internally or externally as appropriate.

Other/Control

  • Provide Business Management support to the Global GSB Head

  • Ensure that all Business Risks are managed and reported / escalated as appropriate with Zero tolerance on Compliance and regulatory matters.

  • Be an advocate for change and champion the transformation agenda within MUFG.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum 7 years of Strategy or Business Management experience

  • Experience in managing and implementing cross-regional strategy projects and initiatives

  • Experience in stakeholder management to collaborate with other departments.

  • Demonstrated problem solving abilities, especially complex, ambiguous problems requiring integrated application of skills (e.g., Sales, strategy, operational efficiency, outsourcing)

  • Project management skills with an ability to structure the deliverables in a coherent manner

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Strong coaching, mentoring and leadership skills (people management).

  • Broad and extensive knowledge of Corporate Banking products

  • Excellent PowerPoint, Excel (advanced) and Project Management skills
