We are currently recruiting for a Vice President, Regulatory Policy and Advocacy Expert for our Planning Division in Brussels.

Main purpose of the role

The VP will assist in the execution of the MUFG advocacy strategy through the monitoring and management of political and regulatory issues, collaborating with internal stakeholders to develop policy positions with a view to create trust and support for MUFG as a thought leader on policy and regulatory issues.

The role includes the following:

The scope of the role would cover, but not be limited to, the following responsibilities:

  • Providing executive management and lines of business with timely and concise information about emerging political policy and regulatory issues and help develop the advocacy position vis-a-vis European policy stakeholders.

  • Monitoring of key political, policy and regulatory developments

  • Contributing to various departments’ specific publications for sharing information across the firm, as well as providing regular and ad hoc updates on subject specific issues.

  • Preparing presentation and internal briefings for senior management lines of business areas and management committees.

  • Collaborate with key internal departments on external advocacy and provide a client voice and context in external engagement.

  • Supporting the European head of Policy and Advocacy in monitoring the activities of the EU institutions.

Stakeholder Management, Engagement & Advocacy

  • Developing and implementing advocacy strategies on policy, legislative and regulatory proposals with a strong focus on financial and operational resilience ESG and digital finance.

  • Be an ambassador for MUFG in Brussels with relevant public sector stakeholders, industry peers, public forums and industry-led initiatives.

  • Developing and maintaining a strong network of stakeholders for gathering intelligence and assisting in development of the overall advocacy strategy.

  • Contributing to the work of trade associations and liaising with counterparts in other financial institutions to the agreed positions on issues and leverage collective resources for advocacy.

  • Engage in proactively in global and regional industry initiatives to progress industry best practices and ensure global consistency in the design of the emerging policy and regulatory frameworks.

  • Screening and earl identification of upcoming EU legislation affecting the business model of the organization.

  • Drafting input for briefings, presentations and reports for Management Board and Senior Management – as well as other internal stakeholders.

  • Preparing for external events, including workshops, discussion rounds, conferences and receptions.

In order to be successful in the role, you will need the following:

  • University degree (Bachelor / Masters)

  • Minimum 5 years’ of experience related to financial services policy in Brussels

  • Extensive knowledge of the European policy making process including the interlinkages between the European institutions, the EU member states and the UK as well as other international institutions and regulatory bodies.

  • Passionate about EU politics, experience working in Brussels policymaking field is considered an asset

  • Strong ability to transfer complex policy and regulatory issues into concise information relevant to the business strategy of the bank.

  • Ability to engage with various seniority levels within a large complex organization.

  • Ability to adapt to an international working environment

  • Self-starter with an ability to work independently as well as with relevant internal stakeholders

  • Understanding of broader geopolitical issues relevant to financial services and banking

  • Highly skilled in MS Office, in particular PowerPoint

  • Elaborate level of communication (both written and oral) and presentation skills

What do we have to offer:

  • Gross salary based on experience and consistent with the market

  • 8% holiday allowance and 13th month payment.
