Purpose of the role
The ESG Finance Department (EFD) is based in the Asian Investment Banking Division with the aim of focusing on partnering with our clients to drive the ESG agenda across APAC (ex Japan)
EFD is now looking for a high caliber candidate to join our team and work with the other EFD team members in promoting ESG finance in APAC
Stakeholder Management (Internal)
Maintain close collaboration with the Coverage, Product Offices, Credit division and Tokyo Headquarters to ensure the priorities are aligned to drive a common outcome
Within a fast-evolving ESG regional and market landscape, be able to help differentiate MUFG’s positioning and proposition and to relay the same to all stakeholders in order to drive growth for MUFG’s Asia-Pacific business.
Provide timely business reporting, including tracking of KPIs
Create senior management presentations, with ability to present content in a succinct and coherent manner
Risk Management and Training
Work closely with first and second line teams regionally and in Tokyo Headquarters on the development and implementation of policies and processes to support the management of the firm’s commitment to reduce financed emission and work
Develop a training plan across our organization, taking into account the roles of different teams in ESG transactions
Build a center of excellence for ESG finance in APAC
Ability to advise on the appropriateness of SPTs and post-deal tracking of SPTs
Market Intel, Structuring and Origination
Build an information platform to support ESG finance origination, structuring and execution activities across APAC
Share the latest developments in ESG across APAC
Represent MUFG at events and client meetings including Japanese clients
Work with coverage teams to support deal origination
Remain up-to-speed and current with all of MUFG Industry partnerships and propose areas to accelerate engagement
Work closely with rating agencies
Bachelor/Master Degree in any discipline;
Min 7 years of work experience, with at least 4 to 5 years of relevant experience in sustainable financing or any relevant banking discipline
Preference for a proven track record of ESG financing in financial institution, ESG rating agencies, or consultancy firm,
In depth knowledge of Green & Sustainable loan principles, Green Bond Principles, UN Sustainable Development Goals, Climate Bonds Initiative, TCFD, and other major ESG Regulations,
Able to provide solutions focused with proven business judgment and high ethical and professional standards
Great familiarity with the Asia-Pacific region including Japan landscape and have extensive experience of having worked across the network.
Stakeholder management skills to collaborate with other departments.
Project management skills with an ability to structure deliverables in a coherent manner
Excellent communication skills
Excellent PowerPoint, Excel and Project Management skills
Proficient in Japanese language both written and spoken; to collaborate with Japanese-speaking clients and Japanese ECAs
