Job Summary:

The Head of Relationship Sales Strategy is an executive level position responsible for driving Union Bank’s collaborative sales strategy, known as Inside Sales. Inside Sales brings together the specialist sales roles across small business banking, business banking, commercial banking, wealth management, private banking and mortgage, in each market, with the goal of connecting clients to the full range of expertise and solutions offered by Union Bank.

Supported by a 3-5 person direct team, the Head of Relationship Sales Strategy will work closely with the technology team to deploy a common instance of Union Bank’s CRM across all specialized sales roles and drives internal referrals, sales and deepening of new and existing customer relationships across markets. The Head of Relationship Sales Strategy will also work with HR, corporate compensation, sales leaders, product leaders and data and analytics teams, to redesign sales incentive plans, track sales performance, and accelerate new customer acquisition and deepening.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Regional Bank sales leaders and the Regional Bank President to develop, refine and implement the Regional Bank sales strategy.

  • Present to Executive Committee of the Americas and Regional Bank Executive Team on progress of the Inside Sales initiative.

  • Lead a direct team of 3-5 individuals to collaborate with each sales organization.

  • Serve as business lead for CRM. Works with technology, sales and product leads to deploy a common instance of Union Bank’s CRM and drive adoption across the specialized sales teams as well as develop and maintain the CRM roadmap.

  • Develop and deploy product bundles and relationship pricing strategies across products and segments to help encourage customer deepening while maintaining favorable financial returns.

  • Partner with corporate compensation and HR teams to identify and implement enhancements to sales model, sales compensation plans. Work with corporate compensation, HR and sales leaders to enhance existing compensation programs and align them to the Inside Sales strategy.

  • Work with data and analytics teams to develop customer level, regional reporting to track new customer acquisition, deepening and sales by region. Develop reporting and sales metrics to support the Inside Sales strategy.

  • Sales organization design. Work with HR and sales leadership to bring together specialized sales teams in each market to foster a sales culture of open collaboration, lead sharing and follow-through focused around the customer and their future needs.

  • Sales performance management. Create and lead regional level sales cadences to drive new customer acquisition and deepening with regional sales leadership.

  • Inside Sales Strategy. Refine and develop the overall Inside Sales strategy in partnership with executive leadership and sales leaders and deploy changes to further enhance sales performance and customer experience.


  • Undergraduate degree required. MBA preferred.

  • 15 years’ experience working leading sales organizations in wealth management, commercial banking, retail banking, and/or private banking.

  • Experience deploying, using and managing enterprise CRM systems in a relationship sales environment

  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing strategies within a retail bank environment.

  • Excellent and effective oral and written communication skills.

  • Excellent influencing and leadership skills.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Proficient in all Bank products and services and alternative delivery channels within a retail/private bank environment.

  • Ability to make decisions independently and maintain a high focus on delivering results.
